Job Description
Lead Software Architect Engineer (Generative AI Platforms) is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying enterprise-scale Generative AI solutions that leverage Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and Agentic AI architectures. This role partners with engineering, platform, and product teams to deliver secure, scalable, and production-ready AI applications across cloud environments while driving innovation, operational excellence, and business value.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and deploy enterprise-grade Generative AI solutions leveraging LLMs, RAG architectures, prompt engineering, and agentic AI frameworks.
  • Build intelligent AI workflows using modern orchestration frameworks including LangChain, LangGraph, and Microsoft Foundry Agent Services.
  • Develop scalable AI applications and microservices using Python, cloud-native design patterns, and distributed system architectures.
  • Implement and optimize end-to-end GenAIOps processes including solution design, deployment, monitoring, performance tuning, and lifecycle management.
  • Engineer secure and resilient AI platforms across Azure and AWS, ensuring high availability, scalability, and compliance with enterprise standards.
  • Design and maintain containerized AI workloads using Docker, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM/Bicep).
  • Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, observability solutions, and operational monitoring for production AI systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, architecture, security, and product teams to deliver innovative AI capabilities while adhering to software engineering best practices and governance requirements.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
- Six to eight years of relevant experience
Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Strong expertise in Generative AI technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and Agentic AI architectures.
  • Hands-on experience developing AI solutions using frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, or Microsoft Foundry Agent Services.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python development, API design, and microservices-based application architectures.
  • Experience deploying and managing AI/ML workloads in Azure and/or AWS cloud environments.
  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems, cloud-native architecture patterns, scalability, resiliency, and performance optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, ARM, or Bicep.
  • Understanding of AI governance, security, compliance, data privacy, observability, monitoring, and production support practices in regulated environments.
  • Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and technical leadership skills with the ability to translate evolving AI technologies into scalable business solutions.

Location expectations 
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $139,230.00 - $163,800.00
