Position Summary
Manage revenue and settlement processes for Deriva Energy’s wind and solar portfolio, including data analysis, contract interpretation, settlement validation, monthly close, and communication with internal and external stakeholders. Additional responsibilities include quarterly reporting, audit support, account reconciliations, subledger-to-GL mapping, batch processing, cash reconciliation, and ad-hoc analysis to support management decisions. Requires strong knowledge of GAAP revenue accounting standards and controls, with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
Main Responsibilities
Review Power Purchase Agreements for billing and accounting treatment
Interpret contract terms and validate transaction details; recommend corrections as needed
Reconcile billing transactions with counterparties and ISOs per contractual timelines
Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts (AR, unbilled revenue, collateral, derivatives)
Identify and record revenue accruals, adjustments, and corrections; communicate impacts
Prepare revenue and AR reports
Research and resolve complex billing discrepancies; follow up on outstanding receivables
Analyze financial data, identify variances/trends, and summarize findings for management
Perform complex queries in energy trading systems for internal/external inquiries
Collaborate with site personnel, corporate teams, auditors, vendors, and consultants
Assist with annual budget preparation and special projects
Support implementation of new ETRM system
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with major in Accounting/Finance or related discipline
Five (5) years or more of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field in addition to degree
Desired Qualifications
Six (6) years or more of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field
Certified Public Accountant
Working knowledge of GAAP
Working knowledge of CommoditesXL, PowerOptix, Aveva PI system, and various Financial and Accounting software (i.e., IFS, Onestream, etc.)
Working knowledge of FERC revenue filings
Possesses and applies fundamental accounting and finance concepts, practices, and procedures
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Experience using Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, Power Point, and PowerBi
Proficient user of pivot tables and working knowledge on how to leverage Microsoft Power Query
Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet stated deadlines
Advanced visualization app experience or database management
Experience with power settlements and invoicing with the various ISOs (ERCOT, PJM, MISO, SPP, CAISO)
Experience with complex power purchase agreements, VPPAs, and CFD.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and foster good relationships with teammates and business partners
Working Conditions
This position is located in Charlotte, NC
This is an in-person position; employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to the designated office location
