About the team and the role:

As Lead Manager, Corporate Communications, focused on crisis management and financial communications, you will report to the Senior Manager, Financial & Crisis Communications and play a key role in helping protect and enhance eBay’s reputation during high-impact, high-visibility moments. This role supports external communications for earnings and financial reporting, mergers and acquisitions, and sensitive issues and crises. You will help ensure eBay communicates clearly, accurately, and consistently with key external audiences, including media and investors, while supporting senior leaders in fast-moving, high-stakes situations.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in financial and crisis communications and the ability to translate complex information into clear, credible messaging. You will bring sound media judgment and a history of developing, pitching, preventing, and securing high-impact media coverage, applying that experience to complex and sensitive communications. You are calm under pressure, highly collaborative, and comfortable operating in an execution-focused role that contributes to strategic outcomes.

What you will accomplish:

  • Support the Senior Leader of Financial & Crisis Communications in implementing financial and crisis communications strategies that protect and enhance eBay’s reputation

  • Partner with Global Communications, Investor Relations, Legal, Finance, and Government Relations to deliver accurate, timely, and compliant external communications

  • Support the earnings process end to end, including development of messaging materials, Q&A preparation, and fact-checking

  • Contribute to financial and regulatory communications (e.g. earnings disclosures, 10-K and related filings) in close collaboration with Legal and Finance

  • Support communications for mergers and acquisitions, including message development and coordination with cross-functional teams

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key business and financial media, supporting proactive and reactive media engagement

  • Draft executive briefing materials and support preparation for interviews and speaking engagements

  • Help maintain and activate crisis communications plans, protocols, and tools, supporting swift, coordinated responses across the U.S. and U.K., partnering with regional teams on global issues as needed

  • Leverage AI-enabled tools to inform essential messaging, examination of media and relevant topics, and evaluation of reputational risks

What you will bring:

  • 8–10 years of experience in corporate communications, including 2–3+ years focused on financial and crisis communications

  • Demonstrated strength in media relations, with experience building and maintaining relationships with business and financial journalists

  • Proven experience working in both in-house and PR agency environments

  • Familiarity with M&A communications and corporate transaction-related work

  • Strong track record of collaborating effectively with cross-functional partners and agency teams in a matrixed organization

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, credible messaging for diverse audiences

  • Strong critical thinking skills and comfort operating in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, managing multiple priorities simultaneously

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field

  • Comfort using AI-enabled tools to support messaging development, media and issues analysis, and reputational risk assessment, with sound judgment around appropriate use

  • Willingness to work in a hybrid model, with at least 3 days per week based in New York, NY or San Jose, CA (some job related travel expected)

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:

$144,400 - $192,800

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave).
