Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics and Global Services supporting Caterpillar dealers and customers. Our teams work together in critical areas that leverage digital capabilities, technology and operational excellence.
As a Lead Data Scientist, you will be a strategic project leader who can drive data initiatives that deliver real business impact. This role blends deep analytical expertise with strong business understanding to ensure tools and insights meet client needs and challenge data assumptions. This role demands strong leadership, a deep understanding of data techniques and the ability to translate complex insights into actionable outcomes.

What You Will Do:
• Directing the data gathering, data mining, and data processing processes in huge volume; creating appropriate data models.
• Exploring, promoting, and implementing semantic data capabilities through Natural Language Processing, text analysis and machine learning techniques.
• Leading to define requirements and scope of data analyses, presenting and reporting possible business insights to management and customers using data visualization technologies.
• Conducting research on data model optimization and algorithms to improve effectiveness and accuracy on data analyses.
• Coaching junior analysts on data requests, preparing reports, and providing technical assistance; Participating in initiatives to improve processes efficiency and employee productivity.
What You Have (Basic Requirements):
• Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree in data science, supply chain, commercial engineering, or similar. Master's degree preferred.
• Business Statistics: Knowledge of statistical tools, processes, and practices to describe business results in measurable scales; ability to use statistical tools and processes to assist in making business decisions.
• Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
• Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
• Programming Languages: Knowledge of basic concepts and capabilities of programming; ability to use tools, techniques and platforms to write and modify programming languages.
• Query and Database Access Tools: Knowledge of data management systems; ability to use, support and access facilities for searching, extracting and formatting data for further use.

Summary Pay Range:
$126,000.00 - $204,720.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
