IT Support Specialist 

Strata Information Group is seeking a highly capable IT support specialist to provide technical assistance and security guidance to our staff. In this role, your duties will include supporting our mostly remote workforce.  You will assist in security protection for computers, ensuring optimal use of our hardware and software technologies, enhancing system performance, and monitoring data security. You will also advise staff on IT equipment and software upgrades. SIG offers competitive salaries and benefits. This is a hybrid position based in either our San Diego, CA or Charlotte, NC office. 

Responsibilities of the IT Support Specialist: 

  • Support employees remotely or face to face with their technology issues/problems with workstations or software utilized by SIG. 
  • Respond in a timely manner to service issues and requests. 
  • Resolve technical issues for staff via phone, video conferencing, in person, or electronically.  
  • Image, prepare, secure and test workstations for deployment to new hires. Securely configure and set up each device to meet employee and company needs 
  • Monitoring and maintaining employee computers and networks, ensuring system integrity and data/network security 
  • Educate employees about computer security and promote security awareness and security protocols 
  • Designing and implementing safety measures and controls 
  • Maintain O365 and monitor alerts 
  • Create/delete and manage O365 accounts 
  • Assist Incident Response team in the event of a security/data breach or ransomware attack to take appropriate action 
  • Secure systems and networks using firewalls, password or biometric protection, MFA, and other methods 
  • Research, analyze, and deploy the best strategies to secure company-wide IT infrastructure 
  • Respond to occasional after hours alerts and support tickets 


Qualifications of the IT Support Specialist: 

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree or appropriate certification  
  • Ability to work at the San Diego, CA  or Charlotte, NC office as needed (up to 3 times per week) 
  • 2+ years of experience in a technical support role 
  • Experience with managing security, administering O365, and performing remote management of desktops 
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and risk management methodologies 
  • Knowledge of firewalls and intrusion detection/prevention systems 
  • Working knowledge and expertise with a variety of applications software, systems, hardware, and security applications 
  • Willingness to solve complicated problems and see projects through to completion. 
  • Analytical skills to study problems and records and identify solutions 
  • Team-oriented attitude to help other colleagues with technical problems. 
  • Strong interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills. 
  • Ability to manage time, multi-task, and effectively prioritize numerous projects 
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows, Zoom, Mac OS, and Microsoft Office 365. 
  • Critical thinking skills and an aptitude for solving problems 


Pay and Benefits

  • Pay range is from $60,000-$70,000

The listed salary range for this position is indicative and subject to adjustment based on the candidate's unique skills and location. Final compensation will be determined through mutual agreement between the successful candidate and SIG.
