THE ROLE:
Xylem is seeking IT PMO Intern candidates to join our Project Management Office. As an intern, you will collaborate closely with the PMO Process Improvement Manager and the PMO Business Analyst to support continuous improvement initiatives, project governance, and data-driven reporting. This role offers exposure to IT project management practices, process optimization, and dashboard development within a global organization.
Xylem Summer Internships typically last 10–12 weeks and provide hands-on, professional experience while making a meaningful contribution to Xylem. The program is designed to build a pipeline of talented undergraduate students interested in careers in the water innovation technology industry. Interns are our primary talent pool for full-time early-career positions and rotational programs, making this internship an excellent opportunity to explore a future in water technology.
The hourly rate for an intern depends on factors such as major, year in school, and geographic location, with an average range of $21.00–$27.00/hour. Internship locations vary by project and function
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Continuous Improvement Support:
• Partner with the Process Improvement Manager to identify, develop, and implement enhancements across PMO workflows
• Assist in documenting new procedures and creating supporting materials for adoption
• Conduct research and analysis on IT systems and processes
• Identify areas for improvement and provide recommendations
• Develop and document business requirements
• Support implementation efforts in collaboration with the PMO team
• Contribute to end-user support, communication, and training as needed
Dashboard Design & Reporting:
• Work with the PMO Business Analyst to design, refine, and enhance dashboards for project performance and KPIs
• Gather requirements, validate data sources, and ensure dashboards meet stakeholder needs
• Collect and analyze data to support decision-making
• Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistent tracking
• Create and maintain databases or data tracking systems
• Build reports and dashboards to visualize insights
• Identify trends and provide recommendations for improvement
• Support implementation of data management solutions
General PMO Support:
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to project documentation
• Assist with governance audits and compliance checks
• Support ad-hoc PMO operational tasks as needed
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field
• Basic understanding of project management principles and methodologies
• Proficiency with Microsoft tools (Teams, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and time management
• Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
• Experience with dashboards, reporting tools, or data analysis practices
