The Investment Analyst will be responsible for conducting comprehensive data analysis and supporting portfolio management activities within Martello Re’s investment team. Reporting to the Investment Data Associate, this role serves as a key contributor to investment decision-making through advanced analytics, performance monitoring, and stakeholder collaboration. The Senior Investment Analyst will lead analytical projects, maintain critical data infrastructure, and provide insights that drive investment strategy and risk management across the organization.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct In-Depth Investment Analysis: Perform comprehensive analysis of investment opportunities, market trends, and portfolio performance using advanced analytical techniques and data modeling
  • Lead Data Analytics Projects: Develop, maintain, and enhance sophisticated reporting tools and dashboards to monitor performance, asset allocation, and risk metrics across the investment portfolio
  • Portfolio Performance Monitoring: Analyze portfolio holdings, returns, and risk characteristics to support investment decision-making and ensure alignment with strategic objectives
  • Data Infrastructure Management: Oversee data flows between key systems, ensuring data quality, completeness, and accuracy for investment reporting and analytics
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with internal teams including Actuarial, Enterprise Risk Management, Finance, Operations, and external asset managers to support investment initiatives
  • Investment Research & Market Analysis: Research market opportunities, conduct due diligence on investment strategies, and provide analytical support for asset allocation decisions
  • Reporting & Communication: Prepare comprehensive investment reports, performance analytics, and presentations for senior leadership and investment committee meetings
  • Risk Assessment & Monitoring: Analyze investment risks, monitor compliance with investment guidelines, and support the development of risk management frameworks
  • System Development Support: Contribute to the enhancement of Martello Re’s investment analytics platform and data warehouse capabilities
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, automate routine tasks, and enhance the efficiency of investment operations
  • Other tasks as assigned


Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, or related quantitative field
  • 3–5 years of experience in investment analysis, data analytics, portfolio management, or related financial services role
  • Experience with investment performance analysis and portfolio management concepts
  • Demonstrated experience in financial data analysis and reporting
  • Familiarity with insurance industry investments or liability-driven investing preferred
  • Experience working with large datasets and complex financial models


Required Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SQL, Python, and/or R for data analysis and modeling
  • Strong understanding of capital markets, investment strategies, and portfolio management principles
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills with attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting complex analysis to diverse audiences
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative mindset with experience working across functional teams
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to translate business requirements into analytical solutions
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and data modeling techniques
  • Understanding of risk management concepts and investment compliance requirements
  • Comfort with uncertainty and the ability to solve complex, open-ended problems


Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance and mentorship to interns and junior team members on analytical projects and methodologies.


Location and Travel

  • Martello Re welcomes applications from candidates located in the Eastern United States, where the company currently operates, for fully remote roles, or from individuals within a commutable distance to our Charlotte, NC office for a hybrid work arrangement.
