The Human Resources Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the Human Resources department and helps ensure efficient employee-related processes. This position assists with recruitment, onboarding, employee records, benefits administration, payroll support, attendance tracking, HR communications, and general office administration.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, professional, and able to handle confidential employee information with discretion.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Human Resources department.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee personnel records and HR databases.
- Assist with job postings, applicant tracking, resume screening, interview scheduling, and candidate communication.
- Coordinate new-hire onboarding activities, including paperwork, orientation, system access, and required documentation.
- Assist with employee offboarding and termination procedures.
- Prepare and maintain employment-related documents, forms, letters, and reports.
- Verify employment information and assist with background-check and pre-employment processes as applicable.
- Maintain employee attendance, timekeeping, and leave records.
- Assist with payroll-related administrative tasks and resolve basic timekeeping discrepancies.
- Support employee benefits administration, including enrollment, changes, and employee inquiries.
- Respond to routine employee questions regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, and employment documentation.
- Direct complex employee questions or concerns to the appropriate HR professional.
- Assist with maintaining compliance with company policies and applicable employment regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee records and sensitive HR information.
- Assist with HR audits, reports, surveys, and compliance documentation.
- Prepare spreadsheets, presentations, correspondence, and other HR-related materials.
- Schedule HR meetings, interviews, orientations, and training sessions.
- Assist with employee engagement activities, company events, and internal communications.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical HR files.
- Assist with HR projects and process improvements.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Previous administrative, office, customer service, or HR experience preferred.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
