We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced accounting professional to oversee the end-to-end accounting processes related to domestic and international payroll, as well as sales commissions. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate and timely payroll operations, compliance with international payroll regulations, and the proper accounting and accrual of commissions in accordance with company policy and revenue recognition standards. This role will also have a key role in day-to-day operational accounting activities and will be involved in ad hoc projects and cross-functional initiatives, making it ideal for someone who enjoys a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll & Commissions:

  • Manage end-to-end payroll accounting for domestic and international employees, ensuring timely and accurate processing in collaboration with HR and third-party payroll providers.

  • Own the monthly payroll close, including reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and variance analysis.

  • Oversee the global sales commissions process including calculations, accruals

  • Partner with Revenue Operations and Finance to ensure commission plans are properly implemented and accounted for.

  • Staff onboarding and offboarding 

  • Systems-administration of payroll and commissions software (Rippling, Deel, and Everstage)

  • Conduct state and local payroll tax filings, as well as managing qualifications to do business and employment tax withholdings

Operational Accounting:

  • Support general ledger accounting and participate in the monthly and quarterly close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.

  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of transactions across various accounting areas (e.g., prepaid expenses, accruals, benefits, intercompany).

  • Assist in maintaining and improving internal controls and processes related to payroll, commissions, and other operational areas.

Projects & Cross-Functional Support:

  • Participate in and lead special projects and process improvement initiatives, including system implementations, automation, and policy updates.

  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries related to payroll, commissions, and operational accounting.

  • Provide financial data and analysis to leadership and collaborate with teams across HR, Finance, and Sales.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred.

  • 6+ years of relevant accounting experience, including payroll and commissions; international exposure is a plus.

  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, particularly payroll-related standards.

  • Hands-on experience with accounting and payroll systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, Rippling, Deel, or Netsuite, ADP, Gusto, Workday, etc.).

  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Comfortable working in a remote environment, able to time-manage, multitask and adapt to evolving priorities.

  • Experience with undergoing growth and scale at a prior company, as well building processes and procedures or undergoing financial audits is highly desirable.

  • Clear and concise communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and present financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining confidentiality, ethics, and professional standards in handling financial information.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in a hypergrowth SaaS company

  • Familiarity with commissions tools (Everstage, CaptivateIQ)

  • Exposure to SOX compliance and operational process documentation.

  • Prior involvement in system implementations or accounting automation projects.

  • Familiarity with ASC 606

Our compensation structure is designed to be fair, competitive, and transparent, ensuring that every team member is recognized and compensated equitably across roles, levels, and locations.

In accordance with various State’s transparency regulations, we provide the following salary range information for this position:

  • Base salary range: $149,850 - $166,500. The exact salary will be determined based on the selected candidate’s location, qualifications, experience, and relevant skills.

  • Additional compensation: This role may also be eligible for an equity package (in the form of stock options). If any other compensation benefits apply, they will be discussed during the interview process.
