Iron Mountain is seeking an experienced Global Digital Business Unit Controller to join our Global Controllership team.
In this critical role, you will be responsible for leading the Financial Controllership and Accounting function for the Global Digital Business Unit, ensuring accurate and timely accounting, reporting, and compliance with US GAAP and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX).
This position is a key partner to the Digital BU CFO, the Global Group Controller, and the SVP, Chief Accounting Officer, and will drive transformational changes for world-class accounting and reporting processes across the organization.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will:
- Strategic Business & Stakeholder Partnership: Partner with Digital BU leadership, FP&A, and cross-functional teams (finance, engineering, product, commercial, operations) to support business strategy, execution, and informed decision-making, including early identification of accounting impacts and risks.
- Technical Accounting & Compliance Leadership: Drive accounting conclusions for complex areas including revenue recognition and internal-use software (ASC 350-40); ensure compliance with US GAAP, SOX, and group accounting policies, and support external audits, disclosures, and quarterly issue escalation processes.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Provide timely financial data, insights, and trend analysis to Digital BU leadership, the CFO, and global finance teams; support global external reporting, controllership, and implementation of new accounting standards.
- Controls, Risk & Process Excellence: Partner with the Digital BU CFO to design, monitor, and enhance internal controls; continuously improve month-end close, reporting processes, and shared services operations to drive efficiency and quality.
- Systems, Shared Services & Continuous Improvement: Lead finance systems optimization initiatives, support system implementations and outsourcing transitions, and contribute to the global finance systems strategy and end-to-end process improvement efforts.
- M&A, Integration & Special Projects: Provide accounting support for M&A due diligence and post-acquisition integration, including reporting set-up for new entities and joint ventures; lead and contribute to ad hoc financial, operational, and transformation projects.
What You’ll Bring
The ideal candidate will have:
- 10+ years’ accounting experience in a multinational environment, including a minimum of 3 years working within a Big Four or mid-tier public accounting firm.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., Certified Public Accountant - CPA, Chartered Accountant - CA) and a tertiary qualification in finance or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of US GAAP, specifically including ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition) and ASC 350-40 (Internal Use Software), coupled with extensive audit experience and a strong understanding of financial processes and internal controls.
- Proven ability in leadership and operating within a matrix management structure to drive an agenda across the business and effectively coach and develop team members.
