Responsibilities

The Fraud Intelligence Analyst II (FIA - II) will play a critical role in the identification and mitigation of emerging fraud trends targeting General Motors Insurance Company (GMIC) and its platforms. The FIA II will leverage advanced intelligence methodologies, data analysis, and investigative techniques to design, implement, and refine models and tools to detect and prevent fraudulent activity across the GMIC ecosystem. 

About the role

  • Analyze intelligence from large datasets to uncover patterns, anomalies, and red flags indicative of fraud
  • Utilize predictive modeling tools to analyze fraud trends and provide insights regarding possible mitigation strategies
  • Serve as subject matter resource regarding auto insurance fraud intelligence and analytics
  • Develop dashboards and real-time monitoring systems to track fraud trends and provide actionable insights to leadership
  • Collaborate with policy analysts, claims adjusters, legal team, and leadership to develop and refine fraud detection decision frameworks with effective alert systems
  • Drive innovation by integrating advanced AI tools and techniques as well as common vendor tools into claims processes to enhance and advance fraud fighting efforts
  • Consistently and proactively identify gaps in fraud detection systems and recommend solutions to increase efficiency and effectiveness
  • Continuously monitor the performance of fraud analytic models (both GMIC-designed and vendor models) to ensure effectiveness as fraud schemes shift and evolve, modifying models to ensure peak performance and limit false positives
  • Assist and consult on claims with red flags, providing desktop investigative assistance
  • Serves as subject matter resource regarding fraud investigations
Qualifications

  • Advanced understanding of current SIU investigation techniques and data analytic methods, including uses and applications of AI-based programs
  • Industry knowledge of leading fraud analytics software and uses of various fraud detection products
  • Detailed knowledge of how to derive actionable insights from data regarding fraud patterns and trends
  • Strong understanding of digital claim workflows
  • Advanced knowledge of techniques used to detect and investigate fraud through the life cycle of an automobile insurance policy
  • Solid working knowledge of state and federal regulations related to insurance fraud
  • Demonstrated data analytics expertise, including use of AI-based programs
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in insurance fraud investigations, including evidence collection, interviewing, and reporting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing start-up environment, building many tools from scratch and/or implementing new vendor tools for the first time
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and build strong working relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely to diverse and sometimes non-technical audiences
  • Excellent project management skills

Experience and Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 3+ years of Special Investigation Unit (SIU) and/or Major Case investigation experience in auto insurance required
  • 2+ years of professional business analytics experience required
  • 2+ years of experience using SQL and/or Power BI preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in insurance fraud analytics preferred
  • Experience utilizing Claims Fraud Detection platform strongly preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • Must hold current Property and Casualty (P&C) or Personal Lines License in at least (1) U.S. State or be able to obtain within 30 days of start date

Additional Knowledge and Skills

Working effectively within an AI enabled environment:  

  • Ability to use AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to support daily work
  • Skills in evaluating AI outputs for accuracy, compliance, and bias
  • Experience integrating AI into workflows to improve efficiency or insights
  • Familiarity with AI assisted research, summarization, and content generation
  • Understanding of responsible AI use, including ethics and data protection

The base range for this role is: $61,000 - $116,000

At GM Financial, we strive for transparency in all aspects of our business, including pay equity. This is the GM Financial pay range for this role and job level. The exact salary and compensation will vary based on factors like knowledge, skills, experience, and education.

This role is eligible to participate in a performance-based incentive plan. Full time employees are eligible to participate in health benefits on day one of employment.
