Job Description:
This job is responsible for providing leadership, technical direction and oversight to a team delivering technology solutions. Key responsibilities of the job are to provide oversight of the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex computer programs, align technical solutions to business objectives, and ensure that coding practices/quality comply with software development standards. Job expectations include conducting multiple software implementations and applying both depth and breadth in knowledge of several technical competencies.
Responsibilities:
- Designs, develops and is accountable for feature delivery
- Applies enterprise standards for solution design, coding and quality
- Ensures solution meets product acceptance criteria with minimal technical debt
- Guides the team on work breakdown and execution
- Works with the Product Owner to ensure that product backlog/requirements are healthy, with clear acceptance criteria
- Plays a team lead role (as an individual contributor) and mentors the team
- Guides team members with skills and practices (planning and estimation, peer reviews, and other engineering practices)
- Function within a distributed team model and interact with global team members.
- Collaborate with Product, the business, testers, infrastructure, and others to deliver solutions.
- Participate in requirement gathering, design, development, testing, and implementation of complex applications. Responsible for components of complex engineering and/or analytical tasks and activities.
- Ability to prioritize and execute multiple competing tasks.
- Hold meetings with team, or project members, as necessary.
- Create and maintain documentation such as design docs, mapping specifications, flow diagrams, technical recovery plans, etc.
Required Skills
- 5-7+ years of experience in software design & development
- Knowledge of Macro/script languages such as TACL, ENFORM, shell, or perl
- In-depth knowledge and experience with NonStop and/or Linux
- Knowledge, or ability to learn, Cobol, C, C++ and proprietary mapping language (IpSwitch MWTranslator)
- Knowledge of transmission protocols such as NDM and sFTP
- Familiarity with SDLC processes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and follow up
- Familiarity with Payment flows & corporate banking (ACH, Wires, Checks, International)
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands
- Flexibility to work for extended hours and on weekends as needed to handle high priority issues.
Desired Skills
- Relational database knowledge (SQL, Oracle)
- Experience with EDI file formats such as X12, XML, NACHA, IDOC, and EDIFACT
- Knowledge of code pages and conversion/usage (UTF8, UTF16, etc)
- Ability to gain a broad knowledge of the system; triage issues; engage appropriate development resources during any issues

Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering or equivalent work experience.
