The Executive Director, Global Market Development plays integral role in driving awareness and demand for our portfolio of solutions across the clinical development life cycle, from molecule to market. The individual in this role is responsible for providing leadership, oversight, strategy, and direct staff supervision across our PPD Laboratories services.Partnering and collaborating closely with stakeholder groups within the PPD business and broader Thermo Fisher where applicable, the individual in this role is responsible for strategic planning; development and execution of tactical programs; measurement; and optimization. The Executive Director provides day-to-day supervision and career development of team members and oversees the area/division budget. As a member of the Marketing & Sales Enablement Leadership team, the Executive Director is also responsible for building a culture of collaboration, open communication, and mutual respect.Essential Functions and Other Job Information:- Lead and provide strategic guidance to the area/division marketing team, driving collaboration, prioritization, and alignment.
- Guide creation of marketing plans, including go-to-market strategies, tactical plans, and messaging documents, ensuring all efforts are grounded in customer needs/business insights.
- Drive best-in-class approaches and models in the development of compelling value propositions, promotional positioning, messaging materials and selling resources/collateral.
- Ensure ongoing program measurement and optimization to optimize our marketing budget and maximize return on investment.
- Plan and manage resource allocation across the area/division, including day-to-day budget management and related processes.
- Input into annual strategic planning process and related efforts, keeping the broader team engaged and up to date on direction.
- Drive targeting and segmentation efforts in collaboration with our Marketing Operations team to improve relevance and results.
- Drive partnership, collaboration, and strong working relationships across all teams and disciplines.
- Lead or provide significant input into priority corporate efficiency initiatives as mandated by the organization (e.g., vendor optimization, PPI).
- Partner with other teams across the marketing and sales enablement discipline, helping to align the team to common goals and objectives.
- Drive the development of best-in-class marketing capabilities in collaboration with the Marketing & Sales Enablement Leadership team.
- Bachelor's degree required in Science, Health Sciences or Business
- MBA or advanced degree preferred
- 10-15+ years pharmaceutical/CRO/medical device experience with broad knowledge of the industry and healthcare environment
- Strong leadership, emotional intelligence, collaboration and influencing skills
- Broad marketing experience, covering the discipline spectrum from strategy to tactics to research to analytics
- Strong financial acumen and robust working knowledge of sales and marketing relationships
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity and lead through change
- History of achievement and performance
- Strong interpersonal skills, as well as excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
- Experience working across cultures and partnering with colleagues who represent a diverse selection of experiences and skills
- Ability to think objectively and outside of one’s own discipline for the greater good of the team and organization
- Ability to effectively prioritize, manage, and deliver multiple projects under pressure
- Effective planning, analytical, organizational and project management skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage outside agencies to fulfill project objectives
- Understanding of corporate brand and ability to work within set brand guidelines
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite
