About The Role

The Director of Global Tax sits within our Finance team and reports directly to the Controller.  The Finance Team is a dedicated group focused on financial strategy, analysis, and compliance to drive the company's success. Our mission is to provide comprehensive financial guidance and support across all facets of the organization.

What You’ll Do

The Director of Global Tax plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with tax regulations, optimizing tax strategies, and minimizing tax liabilities for the US and International entities. This position will lead the tax planning and compliance efforts for the company, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams such as Accounting, Legal, People and Payroll.

  • Own and manage all aspects of US and International tax compliance and planning, including researching and interpreting tax laws, rulings, and regulations to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting and compliance
  • Assure timely payment of tax provisions to all tax agents. Gross receipts tax, income tax, sales/use tax, VAT, excise, franchise and property tax
  • Collaborate with tax preparers, review all federal, state, local and international tax returns, ensuring accuracy and completeness while minimizing tax liabilities
  • Oversee tax audits (as applicable) and inquiries from tax authorities, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to provide necessary documentation and support
  • Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the company's overall tax position while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Accounting, Legal, Hiring, Technology, and Operations, to identify tax implications of business decisions and transactions
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the company, recommending and implementing necessary adjustments to tax strategies and compliance processes
  • Provide guidance and training to internal stakeholders on tax matters, ensuring understanding and compliance with tax policies and procedures and escalation of tax risks
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors and consultants, coordinating their efforts to support the company's tax objectives effectively and cost efficiently
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in tax management and incorporate them into the company's tax planning and compliance strategies
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by senior management, contributing tax expertise and insights to achieve business objectives
What We Need
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain tax, and all related risks, to non-tax professionals
  • Comfortable balancing tax rules and regulations against goals of the Company’s business development activities and recommending reasonable courses of action
  • Technical Tax Skills: Exceptional knowledge of domestic federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations, including an understanding of tax compliance, tax planning, tax analysis, and the ability to handle tax audits.  In addition, a strong knowledge of international tax compliance and planning for a variety of countries
  • Ability to work as a one-person team (initially) while managing multiple outside service providers in various areas related to tax
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data and extract and redefine reports from it
  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with tax and accounting software (NetSuite a plus), and Google Suite
  • Problem-Solving and Research Skills: Ability to identify issues, gather and analyze information, appropriately research and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Critical Thinking Skills: Ability to handle “out of the box” situations through critical thinking and the use of resources

For this position, the annual salary ranges by location are:

Tier 1
$182,000$203,000 USD
Tier 2
$166,000$185,000 USD
Tier 3
$149,000$166,000 USD

An Invisible Talent Acquisition Partner can provide more information on which locations are included in each of our geographic pay tiers during the interview process. For candidates outside the U.S., compensation will be adjusted to reflect local market conditions and cost-of-living differentials.

Bonuses and equity are included in offers above entry level. Final compensation is determined by a combination of factors, including location, job-related experience, skills, knowledge, internal pay equity, and overall market conditions. Because of this, every offer is unique. Additional details on total compensation and benefits will be discussed during the hiring process.
