Summary:

The Director of Supply Chain (SCD) oversees the daily operations of all supply chain activities within the hospital facility. Responsibilities encompass inventory management, vendor relations, and ensuring supply costs align with organizational goals. Where applicable, the SCD is also directly accountable for supply chain operations in the Operating Room (OR).
The SCD integrates departmental services with core hospital functions, develops and implements supportive policies and procedures, evaluates and improves department performance, and ensures staff onboarding and ongoing training. As a department leader, the SCD may recommend space or resource needs and participate in selecting external service providers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all supply chain operations at the facility level
  • Oversee facility supply chain operations budget and financial performance
  • Implement infrastructure and standardization initiatives, including MMIS cleanup, EDI, and master file consistency
  • Ensure readiness and management of disaster-related supplies and protocols
  • Support department-level implementation of facility-based purchasing initiatives
  • Lead rollout and operationalization of point-of-use systems, if necessary
  • Supervise, evaluate, and support supply chain personnel
  • Foster professional development and a problem-solving environment within the team
  • Identify and address supply chain challenges and opportunities for improvement
  • Participate in facility value analysis process
  • Manage facility implementation plans, mitigate risks, and ensure resource alignment for successful project execution
  • Monitor and report supply chain performance metrics in line with leadership expectations
  • Promote continuous improvement across supply chain operations
  • Encourage knowledge sharing and organizational learning
  • Recommend and maintain adequate staffing levels of qualified personnel
  • Define, assess, and document staff competencies, including annual evaluations
  • Seek cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or patient safety
  • Participate in facility capital planning process
  • Participate in mandatory training sessions covering safety, compliance, infection control, and more
  • Demonstrate familiarity with the occurrence reporting system and its use in addressing safety concerns

Work Experience, Education, and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a healthcare-related discipline.
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of supply chain leadership experience in the healthcare sector.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Reliable high-speed internet connection is required for all remote/hybrid positions. 
  • Must have access to stable Wi-Fi with sufficient bandwidth to support video conferencing, cloud-based tools, and other online work-related activities. 
  • A HIPAA-compliant work environment is required, including a secure workspace free from unauthorized access or interruptions, no use of public Wi-Fi unless connected through a secure company-provided VPN, and compliance with all applicable HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
