The Opportunity
AssetMark is seeking a Director of Platform Product to drive the execution and delivery of our platform strategy under the leadership of the VP, Head of Platform Product. This key leadership role will be responsible for translating the overarching platform vision into actionable plans, managing the development of core platform services, APIs, and data models that serve as the foundation for our entire product ecosystem.
The ideal candidate combines authentic depth in the wealth management or investment industries with a deep understanding of technical platform architecture, and data governance. You will work collaboratively with engineering teams and commercial stakeholders to build scalable platform components that accelerate product development across the organization while ensuring consistency and reliability. This role requires a strategic thinker who can balance technical requirements with business objectives, driving platform adoption and evangelizing platform-first approaches across product teams.
We can consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to our Charlotte, NC office.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Product Definition & Execution: Contribute to our overall product vision, drive the design of the technical product platform to enable that strategy, and lead execution to bring that design to life.
API Product Management: Oversee the design, development, and iteration of API products that serve both internal and external consumers
Data Modeling: Author canonical data models and steward and govern their use, ensuring data consistency across our product estate
Platform Component Ownership: Manage the product lifecycle for key platform components, services, and shared capabilities
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, architecture, and product teams to align platform capabilities with business needs
Metrics & Analytics: Implement tracking and reporting systems to measure platform usage, performance, and business impact
Technical Product Requirements: Create detailed technical requirements that balance business needs with architectural best practices
Platform Adoption: Work with product teams across the organization to increase platform usage and incorporate platform capabilities
Team Leadership: Manage a team of platform product managers focused on specific domains within the platform ecosystem
Stakeholder Management: Engage effectively with engineering leaders, business stakeholders, and executive leadership
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Strong foundation in platform product management, API design, and service architecture
Experience implementing data governance and canonical data models
Technical expertise to collaborate effectively with architecture and engineering teams
Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
Track record of driving platform adoption across product organizations
Background in wealth management, asset management, or financial services technology preferred
Experience leading and developing product managers
Education & Experience
8+ years of product management experience with at least 4+ years in platform product roles
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field; advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred
Experience in financial services or wealth management technology a plus

Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $150,000-$175,000.
This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.
