WHO WE ARE: MagicSchool is the premier generative AI platform for teachers. We're just over 2 years old, and more than 7 million teachers from all over the world have joined our platform. Join a top team at a fast growing company that is working towards real social impact. Make an account and try us out at our website and connect with our passionate community on our Wall of Love.

MagicSchool is looking for a Director of Digital Marketing with deep experience in performance marketing to own our paid and organic digital growth strategy and build the team and systems to scale it. You will set the direction for how we reach two audiences: teachers who sign up and use MagicSchool every day, and the schools and districts that partner with us. You will decide how the paid media budget is allocated across channels, and be accountable for metrics such as blended CAC, pipeline, and activations. You are a player-coach: strategic first, and close enough to the work to know what great looks like. Responsibilities include planning and executing a holistic website strategy and roadmap, and shaping our lifecycle and email programs in collaboration with marketing operations.

You will set the strategy, roll up your sleeves to optimize campaigns and channels, and manage a small team of contractors and agency partners to deliver results you can measure. You will report to the Chief Marketing Officer and work closely with Sales, Customer Success, and Product.

Responsibilities
  • Set the digital marketing strategy and annual plan across B2C acquisition and B2B demand generation, and own the budget, forecasting, and channel allocation.

  • Own paid acquisition performance across search, paid social, and display, driving efficient B2C signups and B2B pipeline while balancing volume, quality, and cost.

  • Define the metrics framework (CAC, LTV, payback period, pipeline contribution, activation) and be accountable for hitting targets.

  • Build and lead the team: hire, develop, and set structure for our paid digital agency and contractors so that performance is clear, consistent, and strong.

  • Own the experimentation roadmap across paid, web, and lifecycle, including where to place bets and when to scale or cut.

  • Own the website strategy and roadmap with a focus on conversion rate optimization, including automated A/B testing and publishing in Webflow.

  • Oversee lifecycle and email marketing strategy in partnership with marketing operations to improve activation and retention.

  • Partner with the CMO, Sales, Product, and CS on planning, forecasting, and goals. Present performance and recommendations to executive leadership.

Qualifications, Competencies, and Skills
  • Data fluency: You analyze performance data with ease and explain what it means and what to do next in plain language.

  • Ownership: You take full accountability for results and drive work from idea through execution.

  • Collaboration: You work well across marketing, sales, product, and customer success.

  • Coachability: You welcome feedback, apply it quickly, and keep raising the bar for yourself and your team.

  • Comfort with ambiguity: You make sound decisions with incomplete information and adjust as you learn.

  • Mission alignment: You care about improving education through technology.

Required Experience
  • Director-level experience managing a multi-million dollar marketing budget.

  • Several years of hands-on and managerial experience in search engine marketing (Google Ads and Bing Ads), with a record of ROI-positive campaigns across global markets.

  • Deep experience running paid social campaigns, especially on Meta and LinkedIn.

  • A proven ability to drive both B2C user acquisition and B2B demand generation.

  • Experience managing web developers and overseeing website strategy.

Nice to have: experience with Iterable or a similar lifecycle email platform, Webflow (including automated A/B testing and CMS publishing), reporting tools such as Looker, Metabase, Amplitude, or HockeyStack, a background in edtech or mission-driven SaaS, and experience briefing and managing creative production for paid campaigns.

Why Join Us?

  • Work on cutting-edge AI technology that directly impacts educators and students.

  • Join a mission-driven team passionate about making education more efficient and equitable.

  • Flexibility of working from home, while fostering a unique culture built on relationships, trust, communication, and collaboration with our team - no matter where they live.

For full time employees:

  • Unlimited time off to empower our employees to manage their work-life balance. We work hard for our teachers and users, and encourage our employees to rest and take the time they need.

  • Choice of employer-paid health insurance plans so that you can take care of yourself and your family. Dental and vision are also offered at very low premiums.

  • Every employee is offered generous stock options, vested over 4 years.

  • 401k match & monthly wellness stipend.

Our Values:

  • Educators are Magic:  Educators are the most important ingredient in the educational process - they are the magic, not the AI. Trust them, empower them, and put them at the center of leading change in service of students and families.

  • Joy and Magic: Bring joy and magic into every learning experience - push the boundaries of what’s possible with AI.

  • Community:  Foster community that supports one another during a time of rapid technological change. Listen to them and serve their needs.

  • Innovation:  The education system is outdated and in need of innovation and change - AI is an opportunity to bring equity, access, and serve the individual needs of students better than we ever have before.

  • Responsibility: Put responsibility and safety at the forefront of the technological change that AI is bringing to education.

  • Diversity: Diversity of thought, perspectives, and backgrounds helps us serve the wide audience of educators and students around the world.

  • Excellence:  Educators and students deserve the best - and we strive for the highest quality in everything we do.
