We are AI Native

We are building an AI native company where AI is an integral part of how we build and operate. AI tool usage during interviews varies by role. You may be asked to demonstrate proficiency with AI tools, discuss how you leverage AI, or complete interview exercises without AI assistance. Your Recruiter will provide clear guidance as you move through the interview process.

Undisclosed use of AI not previously discussed with or approved by your Recruiter may impact your candidacy.

About The Team

The AI Platforms team builds the shared foundation that lets Life360 use AI quickly and safely. Today, that means powering AI adoption and productivity across the company: model access, agent tooling, and the infrastructure our engineers rely on every day. We work side by side with the teams that are reshaping how Life360 builds with agents. We’ll carry these AI foundations as we look forward towards our future AI product strategy.

About the Job

As the Director of AI Platforms, you will build and lead the team through a defining shift: from supporting how Life360 works with AI to powering how AI shows up for our members. You will be a critical leader in our continued evolution for our agentic product development lifecycle (PDLC), turning early momentum into shared platforms, paved roads, and measurable results. Looking forward, you’ll shape how the platform supports AI inference and AI-powered features within our product.

You will report to the Chief Information Security Officer with close partnership across our entire leadership team.

The US-based salary range for this position is $216,500 to $318,500 USD. We take into consideration an individual's background, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience in determining final salary. Base pay may also vary based on geographic location, with US work locations falling into one of three geographic tiers.

Total compensation is inclusive of equity compensation in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits.

What You’ll Do
  • Set the direction for the AI Platforms team, with a clear roadmap that balances today's internal needs with where the product is going
  • Lead and scale the team to full capacity by strategically hiring and continuing to develop current team members.
  • Build and evolve the shared AI platform: model access and routing, agent runtime, MCP integrations, evals, agent identity, and cost controls
  • Define and own our AI end-user platforms, enabling a multiplayer ecosystem working side by side with agents
  • Partner with core teams to evolve our Agentic PDLC, including the tools, environments, review practices, and workflows through which AI agents help plan, write, test, review, and ship code
  • Extend the platform from internal productivity to the product, defining how product teams access, run, and monitor AI inference and AI-powered features in production at member scale
  • Drive adoption by making the right way the easy way: paved paths, reusable skills and components, champions, and enablement that engineers choose to use
  • Partner with Security, Privacy, and Legal to build data handling, auditability, and safeguards into the platform from day one, with the trust our members expect from a family safety company
  • Define and report outcomes that matter, such as adoption, quality, cost per outcome, and time to ship, rather than usage counts
  • Stay close to the work: review designs, unblock teams, and make build-versus-buy calls as the model and tooling landscape change
What We’re Looking For
  • 10+ years of engineering experience
  • 5+ years experience leading engineering teams that build platforms or infrastructure used by other engineers
  • Experience building and operating production AI systems, such as agentic workflows, large language model (LLM) integrations, retrieval, and evaluation
  • Working knowledge of MCP and agent orchestration, including how agents connect to internal systems with appropriate controls
  • Familiarity with AI inference in production, including serving, latency, reliability, provider management, and cost
  • Experience driving the adoption of new engineering practices across a large engineering organization through influence, without becoming the bottleneck
  • Hands-on technical judgment: comfortable reviewing architecture, setting technical direction, and staying close to implementation
  • Comfort working where the platform, the operating model, and the product use cases are all taking shape at once, and a clear communicator with both executives and engineers
  • Nice to have: experience with consumer-scale mobile products or privacy-sensitive data
Our Benefits
  • Medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance plans (100% paid for employees)
  • Paid parental leave
  • 401(k) plan with company matching program
  • Mental Wellness Program & Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for mental well-being
  • Generous time off: flexible PTO, companywide holidays throughout the year plus summer and winter shutdowns
  • Learning & Development programs
  • Equipment, tools, and reimbursement support for a productive remote environment
  • Free Life360 Platinum Membership and Tile trackers

AI Usage: We use AI to help make our hiring process efficient. That said, every hiring decision is made by real Life360 hiring teams
