Role Summary:

The Accounts Payable team is responsible for the timely, accurate and compliant processing of supplier invoices and payments globally. The function plays a critical role in maintaining strong supplier relationships, supporting business operations, ensuring control of financial outflows, and enabling LSEG’s wider strategic and transformation priorities within Finance.

The Director, Accounts Payables is responsible for leading LSEG’s global Accounts Payable (AP) function, ensuring operational excellence, strong financial controls, timely and accurate payments, and continuous improvement of AP processes and systems. This role sets the strategic direction for AP operations, drives transformation in line with LSEG’s finance strategy, and partners across Finance, Procurement, Technology and the wider business to deliver high‑quality service and financial integrity.

Reporting to the Head of Finance Operations, this role is a senior position within the Finance Operations team. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the global Accounts Payable function, establishing a culture of continuous improvement, service excellence and strong financial control.

  • Develop and execute the AP strategy to align with LSEG’s global Finance and operational priorities.

  • Ensure accurate, timely and compliant processing of all supplier invoices and payments across multiple jurisdictions.

  • Strengthen financial controls, oversee AP policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with internal governance, audit requirements and regulatory obligations.

  • Partner with Procurement to optimise end‑to‑end Procure‑to‑Pay (P2P) processes, supplier onboarding, and risk management.

  • Drive process optimisation and automation initiatives, using ERP, workflow, and data analytics capabilities to improve efficiency and quality.

  • Oversee vendor relationships and communication, ensuring a responsive service model and high supplier satisfaction.

  • Manage key AP transformation and change programmes, ensuring consistent global adoption and measurable benefits.

  • Provide leadership, coaching and talent development to the global AP team, ensuring capability growth and high performance.

  • Report on AP performance, important metrics, risks, and opportunities to senior Finance and business leaders.

Behaviours & Skills

Essential Experience:

  • Proven experience leading large, complex Accounts Payable operations within a global organisation

  • Strong understanding of Procure‑to‑Pay processes, controls, and compliance requirements

  • Demonstrated success delivering transformation, automation or process‑reengineering initiatives

Education & Qualifications:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field

  • Professional qualifications (e.g., ACA/ACCA/CIMA) beneficial but not required

Technical Skills:

  • Strong systems knowledge (SAP, Oracle, Coupa or similar P2P/ERP platforms)

  • Excellent financial control and process management expertise

  • Skilled in data analytics and reporting tools

Soft Skills:

  • Strategic leadership and stakeholder management

  • Strong communication and influencing skills

  • Ability to lead a global team through change and transformation

  • High integrity, sound judgement, and ability to operate in a complex, fast‑paced environment

Critical Deliverables:

  • Delivery of a stable, high‑performing global AP service model

  • Successful execution of AP transformation initiatives, including automation and process optimisation

  • Strengthened AP controls framework aligned with audit and regulatory expectations

  • Improved supplier experience and timely resolution of escalations

  • Robust important metric and service‑level reporting to senior team members

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a global AP team

  • Contribute to Finance Operations leadership forums
