Position Overview

As a Digital Designer your primary focus is to develop thoughtful, original ideas that are on strategy.

You conceptualize the emotional “why” behind brands and how to express it across digital creative mediums. From brand worlds to websites, you’re responsible for creating digital experiences that speak the brand’s language and offer a fresh perspective within the brand’s industry. Whether developing the visual brand tone or working within a set of established guidelines, you are able to plug into the brand mindset and articulate it. You have understanding and skill as it relates to typography, color theory, layout and art direction as well as the ability to develop effective visual communication to fit a variety of personas and brands. 


Roles & Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the research and discovery phase through competitive audits, research, and any additional tactics that add value
  • Collaborate with the team in developing holistic digital strategies that are unique to the market, true to the audience and genuine to the beliefs and vision of the brand
  • Collaborate with the team to develop presentations that clearly and effectively tell the story of our work and regularly present the work to our client
  • Develop effective digital solutions, interaction models and art direction that deliver on the brand strategy, are unique to the market, and genuine to the beliefs and vision of the brand
  • Collaborate closely with the team to work from inception to completion to define the digital storytelling through UX/UI, digital design systems, detailed responsive screen designs, interactive and motion
  • Designing interactive ecommerce websites that effectively sell product and tell brand stories
  • Collaborate closely with project leads, copywriters and developers throughout the process
  • Effectively manage your time to meet internal deadlines and goals
  • Approach the project with a solutions-oriented mindset, clear purpose and ensure all executions meet business and user goals

  

Skills & Competencies
  • A passion to solve problems, tell compelling brand stories and create digital experiences that effectively drive results
  • Ability to take direction and constructive criticism, as well as work autonomously
  • Mastery of design principles and practices such as layout, color theory, typography
  • Ability to develop effective design systems 
  • Understanding and awareness of UX/UI and human-centered design

Requirements
  • Mastery of industry standard software (Figma / Adobe)
  • Experience in designing for the web and interactive ecommerce websites
  • Experience collaborating with development teams
  • Motion design and prototyping skills
  • Experience working with module or component-driven digital systems

Experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in a creative industry doing digital design either in-house at a brand or at a creative agency
  • You have worked on 2-3 mid to large-sized interactive websites
  • You have worked on 2-3 mid to large-sized interactive ecommerce websites
  • You have experience collaborating with a development team

Reporting Structure
  • The position reports to a Creative Director

Working Location
  • Zero has physical studio spaces in Brooklyn and Milwaukee. Staff are expected to occasionally work in these locations during the work week. Additional details can be discussed during the interview process.
 Full Time Benefits & Salary
  • Annual salary range between $65,000 - $95,000 determined by experience and seniority level
  • Multiple medical plans with up to 80% of premiums covered by Zero
