Pay Range
$43.30 - $64.95Major Responsibilities:
- Provides decision support analyses and support services to financial service departments and other operational departments across the Enterprise, and all levels of management to monitor financial and operational performance. Coordinates clinical analyses with the Care Management department. Develops, implements and/or coordinates training activities.
- Prepare analyses and develops routine and special management reports and reporting tools to support ongoing operations, finance leadership, and management decision making. Works with administrative and physician leadership.
- Analyzes various costs, services, patient care protocols and service lines using Financial Decision Support System reports. Makes specific recommendations to Enterprise management and physician leadership based on the results of these analyses. Analyzes financial performance by clinical product line, by physician, and by contract. Proactively identify areas for analyses, shares the information with physician and administrative leadership.
- Completes and/or advises on the completion of business development analyses.
- Train and educate management on the use of Decision Support system, self-serve tools, reports, and capabilities.
- Develop training programs for the application of decision support modules. Provide support and education to all system users. Conduct training classes on the use and application of the Decision Support System and the data therein.
- Provide support to the Strategic Financial Planning department with customized reports, consultation and analysis in preparation of capital approval, CON processes, acquisitions, mergers and divestitures, etc.
- Development, implementation and maintenance of Decision Support System financial (payroll, budgeting and general ledger, clinical/patient level, nongovernmental reimbursement and case mix) databases
- Build and maintain the general ledger, payroll, budget, reimbursement and patient level databases.
- Develop, update and maintain cost standards for all services. Working one-on-one with operating department managers, physicians, medical directors and clinical department chairman to conduct cost studies and educate physicians and management in the development of RVUs. Analyze and test data for reasonableness. Discuss and advise on RVU development techniques with other sites.
- Develop and maintain methodologies for allocating indirect department expenses to direct departments and Services. Build and maintain structure for allocation methodologies, which are in sync with approved Enterprise methodologies.
- Implement and maintain the case mix portion and ensure accuracy in the system. Produce CMI reports as needed.
- Work closely with decision support vendor when upgrades are scheduled or to resolve issues.
- Coordinate costing strategies with teams across the Enterprise. Participate in the comparison of cost data among all departments by developing and using uniform definitions and concepts for costing to assist in organizational analysis and decision making. Analyze and recommend changes in costing methods to enhance comparability of data.
- Processes the Decision Support system data accurately and in a timely manner.
- Oversee daily and monthly processing activities by processing actual costs and patient level data into the decision support system. Reconciles and resolves any errors. Coordinate with Financial Services and hospital departments as necessary to resolve issues and ensure timeliness of the data.
- Perform annual system maintenance activities to ensure accurate and timely data.
- Develop cost standards for new products or services as charges are added through the year, based on input from department managers and the central chargemaster maintenance function.
- Develop and maintain Dashboards with monthly financial decision support reporting packets for site leadership.
- Review the general quality of the decision support cost data through the development and application of high-level diagnostic test of the gross reasonableness of the cost modeling. Follow through to resolve any data integrity issues discovered through this process.
- Performs daily, monthly and quarterly reconciliations of decision support data to ensure data integrity.
- Thought Leadership: Analyst regularly provides thought leadership around decision support and related processes and impacts.
- Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization’s Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, comply with policies, regulations, and laws applicable to the organization’s business.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
Experience Required:
- 5-7 years healthcare Accounting, Decision Support, Budgeting, or Finance experience
- The leader must have robust experience in a large scale decision support function including significant system management and implementation experience. In addition, this leader will have significant reporting and data analytics experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Proficient in cost accounting methods and the strengths and limitations in a health care setting.
- Possess an in-depth working knowledge of decision support systems, integration, data base, data warehouse, excel, and other related software tools.
- Skills in prioritizing needs based on aggressive timelines and business requirements. Effectively manages resources and develops processes that will positively impact the organization.

- This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
