As a Data Governance Specialist, you will help shape and advance data governance capabilities across Capital Group's Client Group, supporting both our North America and Europe & Asia businesses. You will partner with business leaders, governance teams, and data practitioners to improve data quality, strengthen controls, mitigate risk, and enable the effective use of data across the organization. 

You will provide thought leadership and governance expertise while leading complex initiatives that enhance how data is managed, governed, and utilized. Working across multiple business functions, you'll develop practical solutions that support growth, scalability, and informed decision-making. 

You are a strategic thinker with deep data governance expertise and strong business acumen. You excel at influencing across organizations, managing competing priorities, and translating complex requirements into actionable solutions. You bring a continuous improvement mindset and a passion for helping organizations maximize the value of their data.

Key Responsibilities 

Data Governance Strategy & Oversight 

  • Support the development and execution of data governance strategies across Client Group data domains. 

  • Partner with Enterprise Data Governance and business governance forums to drive governance priorities and best practices. 

  • Provide oversight of data governance activities, controls, and capabilities across North America and Europe & Asia Client Group data domains. 

  • Evaluate governance risks and recommend solutions that improve data quality, control effectiveness, and business outcomes. 

Data Quality & Risk Management 

  • Support enterprise data governance and data quality frameworks. 

  • Support implementation and monitoring of  data quality metrics, scorecards, and governance reporting. 

  • Conduct risk assessments, business analyses, and governance reviews to identify opportunities for improvement. 

  • Help ensure critical data is managed effectively and aligned with business and regulatory requirements. 

Business Analysis & Solution Design 

  • Lead analysis and solution design efforts for complex data governance initiatives. 

  • Define business requirements, future-state processes, controls, and governance workflows. 

  • Research and document data lineage, transformations, and data dependencies. 

  • Apply governance best practices to address business challenges and improve operational effectiveness. 

Stakeholder Partnership & Influence 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Client Group, Investment Group, Operations, Legal, and Technology teams. 

  • Communicate governance priorities, recommendations, and risks to diverse audiences, including senior leadership. 

  • Facilitate discussions and drive alignment across multiple teams and business functions. 

  • Stay current on industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging governance practices. 

Leadership & Capability Building 

  • Support and strengthen Capital Group's network of Data Stewards, Data Product Managers, Creators and governance practitioners. 

  • Develop training and educational materials that promote governance awareness and adoption. 

  • Mentor associates and provide guidance on data governance best practices. 

  • Foster a culture of accountability, stewardship, and continuous improvement. 

Qualifications 

Required 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Management, Technology, Finance, or a related field. 

  • 7+ years of experience in data governance, data management, data quality, business analysis, or a related discipline. 

  • Experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders at multiple levels. 

  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, controls, data quality, and data management practices. 

  • Experience conducting business analysis, risk assessments, and solution design activities. 

  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills. 

  • Ability to query and analyze data to support governance activities and reporting. 

  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. 

Preferred 

  • Experience within asset management, investment management, financial services, or a related industry. 

  • Knowledge of client, operational, and enterprise data domains. 

  • Experience with enterprise data governance programs and stewardship models. 

  • Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, and data quality tools. 

  • Knowledge of emerging data governance trends, including AI governance and responsible data practices.

Charlotte Base Salary Range: $136,749-$218,798

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
