Job Description:

At Regions, the Credit Products Specialized Industries Associate supports Credit Products Specialized Industries Managers in identifying and mitigating risks in existing and proposed credit products. As a member of the First Line of Defense, the individual will analyze new commercial credit opportunities, underwrite new or renewed credit exposure, and manage a portfolio of loans and other credit relationships in conjunction with a manager. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepares credit approval packages on new and renewed credit products including determination of the appropriate risk rating as well as risk factors that could change the risk rating, analysis of financial performance, performance vs. projections, covenant compliance, relationship profitability (RAROC), and any other significant risk drivers

  • Analyzes guarantors as needed to support credit underwriting

  • Assists Credit Products Specialized Industries Managers with the review of pre-closing loan documents and closing due diligence

  • Manages financial reporting requirements, covenant requirements, past dues and documentation exceptions

  • Ensures credit files are complete with all up to date information

  • Provides tickler implementation and maintenance

  • Monitors portfolio and servicing activities in conjunction with Credit Products support

  • Validates the appropriate risk rating for a company and proactively identifies risk rating changes

  • Identifies opportunities for exposure reduction or new opportunities within assigned portfolio

  • Participates in research, preparation and execution of customer and prospect calls

  • Participates in identifying financial solutions that meet the client’s needs and the Bank’s risk acceptance criteria

  • Ensures compliance with internal bank commercial loan policy, credit risk management policy, and external regulatory requirements; documents any exceptions to policy and related rationale/mitigants

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

This position is incentive eligible.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field

  • Two (2) years  underwriting experience or financial services analysis and accounting experience

  • Completion of a major corporate credit training program (or the equivalent corporate banking/corporate finance experience)

  • Ability to competently complete credit packages and credit services agreements with management oversight

  • Ability to perform quality analysis and display competency in completion and oversight of client portfolio management activities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Well organized,  detail-oriented, and able to manage and/or lead multiple projects under pressure

  • Works collaboratively with multiple stakeholders

  • This position supports the Counterparty Risk function and does not underwrite direct lending credit products

  • This role partners with a wide variety of internal clients across the bank to underwrite, establish limits, and monitor exposures to bank and non-bank financial institutions along with foreign country exposures.

  • This individual serves as part of the first line of defense in identifying and mitigating risk in existing and proposed transactions generating counterparty exposure. The individual will work directly with teammates in Credit Products, Credit Risk, Market Risk, Client Coverage, Capital Markets, Derivatives Sales/Traders and other areas of the bank, underwriting the counterparty exposure and management of associated exposures while providing effective challenge to these various constituents.

  • This position will provide coverage to a portfolio Medium and Small Financial institutions, including Banks, Broker Dealers, Central Clearing Counterparties, Insurance Companies, and Government Sponsored Entities. 

  • Specific Life Insurance and P&C insurance knowledge is plus

  • Provide coverage of foreign country risk generated by financial institutions and other corporate lending.

  • This position may be filled at a higher level depending on the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience

Compensation Details

Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.

The target information listed below is based on the Metropolitan Statistical Area Market Range for where the position is located and level of the position.

$96,299.86 USD

Median:

$125,727.00 USD

Incentive Pay Plans:

This role is eligible to participate in a discretionary incentive plan. Employees have the potential to receive a discretionary award based on performance against defined metrics and goals.
