Authors detailed creative direction and production-ready briefs for agency projects, gathers and governs client resources, maintains campaign documentation, and coordinates handoffs with planning and production teams. The role ensures briefs are accurate, brand-aligned, resource-linked, critique-ready, and clear for client approval while managing multiple concurrent jobs and improving briefing quality.
Role Summary
Creative Planners own authorship of creative direction and project briefing for our Agency customers. You work in lockstep with account-level media planners and studio director to ensure we are executing work that is technically accurate, detailed, aligned to our customers’ objectives and brand standards, and brings their big ideas to life.
This is a clarity-and-authorship role for someone with mid-level agency or creative-production experience who delights in the details and in empowering others to do their best work.
Core Responsibilities
- Author the creative direction for every assigned project, including component-level direction notes and related creative fields.
- Gather, draft, and govern client and project resources needed for project execution, including stories, offers, proof points, brand assets, photos, style guides, and templated assets.
- Stay fluent in strategic and production context enough to brief accurately.
- Prepare work so Agency Creative Strategists can critique for strategic and brand alignment and customers can approve with confidence.
- Keep creative appendices, resource links, and brief content current as campaigns launch or change.
- Coordinate with Program & Production Management on schedule and handoff readiness without owning Mission Control or trafficking.
- Flag incomplete resource readiness early so jobs do not advance on invented content placeholders.
- Uphold brand and customers requirements with meticulous attention to detail and plain-language clarity in every project you author.
- Continuously improve brief quality, consistency, and handoff cleanliness across your assigned book of work.
What Success Looks Like
- Assigned briefs are complete, resource-linked, and critique-ready on schedule.
- Clients and Client Services report clearer briefs and cleaner handoffs for your work.
Required
- Mid-level experience in agency, creative production, direct marketing, and/or nonprofit fundraising creative operations - enough to write production-grade briefs with excellence.
- Demonstrated strength writing clear, detailed creative briefs, charters, or equivalent work-order artifacts.
- Extreme attention to detail and a bias for clarity over cleverness in written direction.
- Comfort partnering daily with a planning and production counterpart without absorbing their scope.
- Ability to reference structured content libraries/assets rather than inventing one-off copy dumps into a brief.
- Strong written and verbal communication; able to explain creative choices and absorb critique without ego.
- Capacity to manage multiple concurrent jobs under deadline pressure.
- Willingness to work in evolving systems.
Preferred
- Digital Media experience.
- Familiarity with nonprofit / cause marketing creative workflows.
- Experience coordinating with CDs, Client Service, and production studios.
- Exposure to catalogued product/package systems or structured briefing tools.
