We’re currently on the lookout for exceptional pirates to join our crew as the Creative Director.

Pirate Ship is a remote-first company, and like any jolly crew of pirates we operate in a casual and creative atmosphere, where everyone’s ideas are welcome and having fun is encouraged. Responsibilities:

  • Chart the course: Partner with product and leadership to set the creative vision and steer integrated campaigns across channels, agencies, and internal crews.

  • Bottle the legend: Define and evolve Pirate Ship’s voice, tone, and visual identity, ensuring every story hook feels unmistakably us: fun, clear, and fearless.

  • Raise the crew: Lead, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary creative team, setting the bar for craft, curiosity, and creative courage.

  • Spin tall tales: Guide big ideas from first spark to final execution, turning business goals into bold brand moments that earn attention and loyalty.

  • Unbury the treasure: Translate customer insight, strategy, and performance data into creative direction that outsmarts the competition.

  • Guard the colors: Ensure brand consistency and excellence across all touchpoints—digital, social, video, experiential, and beyond.

  • Balance the tides: Align creative ambition with real-world constraints, managing priorities, timelines, and resources to keep the ship sailing smoothly.

  • Light the signal fires: Champion a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and smart risk-taking that makes great work inevitable.

  • Ride the changing seas: Thrive in a fast-moving, remote-first environment where adaptability and clarity matter as much as vision.

  • Sail from any port: Work remotely while staying closely connected to your crew through chat, voice, and video, with quarterly in-person gatherings to plot the next great voyage.

    • At this time we are only accepting applicants in the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wyoming.

Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of creative and advertising experience.
  • 5+ years of experience managing creative teams in an in-house creative team or agency.
  • Team-player that’s all about “yes, and.”
  • Familiarity with content marketing.
  • History of creative leadership.
  • You can do it, not just command it.
  • Holistic view of branding.
  • Experience in high-growth startups.
  • Strong leadership and organization skills.
  • YARRrrr! The ability to speak like a pirate!

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Compensation - The pay range for this role is $180,000 - $200,000 yearly plus a performance based bonus.
  • Vacation Time - We offer 144 hours of accrued vacation time to start to keep our pirates rested & rejuvenated! 
  • Paid Holidays - 12 paid holidays per year.
  • Paid Sick Time - 80 hours annually.
  • Medical Insurance - 100% covered for Pirates by the company and kicks in the first of the month after enrollment. If you want to add any dependents (spouse, partner or children), they’ll be 50% covered.
  • Dental and Vision -  100% covered for Pirates and 50% covered for dependents.
  • 401(K) - We offer a Traditional 401(K) and a Roth 401(K), and pirates who contribute 1-3% of their annual salary get matched 100% by the company.
  • Parental Leave - Full 12 weeks for parents for the birth, adoption, or foster placement of a child.
  • Home Office Reimbursement - We provide a one-time home office reimbursement of up to $1,500 to purchase an ergonomic desk and chair.
  • Other Stipends for Remote Individuals - Wifi & snacks, we’ve got y’er back!
  • Virtual Tacos for ARRrrrsome Rewards- “Hey Taco!” is our employee recognition program where you can give and receive virtual "Tacos" which can be redeemed for rewards.
