The Opportunity

Corporate Strategy Interns conduct research and analyze data to set the long-term direction for the business and create lasting competitive advantages. They assist in developing clear and compelling presentations of findings and recommendations to senior business executives and help keep the business ahead of emerging trends. This internship offers exposure to strategic issues facing the P&C insurance, Banking, and Life Insurance industries with the potential to convert to a full-time role post-graduation.

The internship is based at USAA’s Corporate Headquarters in San Antonio, TX or our office in Charlotte, NC.

What you'll do:

Our Corporate Strategy Interns work under direct supervision, while following risk and compliance procedures and guidance, to perform routine work assignments and problem resolution supporting other team members, including the following tasks:

  • Support internal consulting projects and build knowledge of strategic opportunities and issues faced by the organization. Conduct targeted research and collect data from various internal and external sources. Provide support in the creation of compelling storylines that clearly communicate findings, insights, and recommendations to business executives up to the C-Suite and Board of Directors.
  • Monitor and assess external trends; conduct industry and competitive research to identify potential strategic opportunities and threats. Support communicating insights and trends to leadership.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities and strategic risks are identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you need to have:

To qualify, you must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, and plan to graduate after the final day of the internship. Most of our interns participate the summer between their junior and senior years. Our 2026 internship will start on May 27, 2026 and last through August 7, 2026.

  • Graduation date cannot be prior to August 7, 2026
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Strong research, data analysis, teamwork, and written & oral communication skills
  • Related experience or education (e.g., courses in business, finance, strategy; participation in consulting clubs) demonstrating proficiency and/or strong interest in business strategy.

What sets you apart:

  • Pursuing a degree with a concentration in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Science, or related discipline
  • Graduation date between August 2026 and July 2027
  • Related experience or education (e.g., courses in finance, business, economics, mathematic or similar) demonstrating proficiency and/or strong interest in P&C insurance, Banking, Life Insurance, or other financial services.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability through previous internships, employment, classes, extra-curricular or club activities

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $21 - $25. Interns will receive an intern stipend to assist with expenses.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the hourly range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual hourly rate for this role may vary by location.
