As the Operations Procurement Coordinator Intermodal, you will support all Procurement activities in the categories of Truck, Chassis, Gensets, Rail, Barge, Depot and all other Inland or Equipment Logistics related costs. As the Coordinator you are a detail-oriented, results-driven individual who excels at interpersonal communication as much as at crunching numbers. As you will distill complex data into information that is actionable and meaningful, and never stop searching for lower prices, higher quality and better overall value.

Responsibilities
  • Financial Planning & Value Realization (FP&A / Cost Control / Savings)

    • Financial analysis of operations costs and budgeting.

    • Budget and saving planning.

    • Calculation and tracking of cost savings programs.

    • Participate in the development and implementation of cost control procedures.

  • Performance Analytics & Reporting (Data / KPIs / Benchmarks / Statistics)

    • Gather data from company data warehouse and operative systems for use in analytical reporting.

    • Generate data and reports on key performance indicators and internal benchmark programs.

    • Monitor cost and quality targets (KPI/SLAs).

    • Provide statistical support as needed.

  • Supplier Performance & Market Management (Volumes / Conditions / Quality / Improvement)

    • Monitor supplier market and industry developments.

    • Analyze and monitor supplier volumes and conditions.

    • Participate in supplier discussions outside the context of negotiations (regular exchange on performance).

    • Support vendor evaluations as per Hapag-Lloyd quality manuals.

    • Develop alternative solutions and plans to solve problems.

  • Procurement Operations & Team Support (Planning / Negotiation Support / Admin)

    • Prepare Activity Planning Overview.

    • TOP 200 Supplier List.

    • Support the Procurement team in daily activities including negotiations.

    • Supports the team with high level issues and inquiries.

    • Provides Administrative Support to the procurement team.

      Including use of systems SAP and COUPA platform. 

Qualifications
  • College degree and 2 years’ work-related experience in the Maritime/Liner Shipping/Transportation Industry.
  • Knowledge and understanding of most shipping terms, routings, schedules and the general practices of various countries, carriers, ports and terminals.
  • Clarify shipping terms unique to a location. 
  • Knowledge of Hapag-Lloyd’s shipping routes, equipment, rates and services.
  • Expertly use maps and other geographic reference materials to determine where nearest ports and terminals are to customers. 
  • Determine the best mode of transportation for ground transport between the customer and the terminal.
  • Excellent Communication skills in maintaining relationships with suppliers and needs to be comfortable talking to all levels of management (internal or external).
  • Financial acumen to make informed purchasing decisions such as accurately budgeting and forecasting.
  • Must be able to check and double-check all of the facts and figures which back up analysis and recommendations to management.
  • Intermediate Excel knowledge working with data, pivot tables, macros, data analysis tools, Advanced Functions & Formulas and Linked-Workbooks.
  • Intermediate Power Point knowledge working with Think-Cell, waterfall and Cost Bridge graphs. 
  • Working knowledge of SAP.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently and prioritize tasks.
  • High level of organization skills to protect the organizations from as much unnecessary expenditure as possible.
  • Perform accurately in a timely fashion. 
  • Apply appropriate calculations to solve work related problems.
  • Prepare effective charts and tables.
  • Use questioning to identify the specific problem and related information and makes appropriate contacts to work out a reasonable solution.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • This position is located in the United States and requires eligibiliy to work in the US and completion of the employment eligibiliyt form required under federal law upon hire.
