The SCADA Engineer will lead projects on Ignition SCADA, enhance existing capabilities, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate on system upgrades and integrations.
About the role: Eagle Creek Renewable Energy owns and/or operates 85 hydroelectric facilities throughout the United States and is currently seeking SCADA engineering candidates to join a growing, nimble, and diverse team of mechanical and electrical engineers. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to perform a broad range of work tasks with guidance and support from other engineering and management staff. - Lead the development, deployment, and continuous improvement of the Company’s Ignition SCADA system.
- Expand and enhance existing SCADA capabilities, including alarming, control, messaging, alert management, and data retention strategies.
- Troubleshoot SCADA system issues to root cause; collaborate with field operators to optimize existing equipment and processes.
- Analyze operational data to design and refine SCADA control strategies.
- Plan, oversee, and execute SCADA system upgrades and installations as needed.
- Integrate hydroelectric equipment into Ignition SCADA, including, but not limited to, generators, governors, exciters, breakers, switchgear, switchboards, motors, drives, controllers, smart relays, and sensors.
- Serve as the lead technical reviewer for SCADA-related design and scope documentation.
- Develop and maintain site-specific Ignition SCADA applications tailored to operational needs.
- Integrate Ignition SCADA with PLC systems from GE, Rockwell, Schneider, and Siemens.
- Design and implement SCADA architecture to ensure high availability, performance, and scalability.
- Prepare and manage Ignition SCADA development roadmaps and proposal priorities, with corresponding budget estimates.
- Proven ability to manage SCADA or automation projects independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Experience with automation systems including PLCs and HMIs, preferably Rockwell Automation products.
- Hands-on experience with Ignition SCADA system development and maintenance.
- Familiarity with Rockwell FactoryTalk SCADA environments.
- Willingness and aptitude to learn new control systems and platforms.
- Working knowledge of electrical safety standards and best practices.
- Experience diagnosing and resolving field issues related to control systems and operating equipment.
- Proficiency in interpreting electrical documentation: single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and block diagrams.
- Knowledge of industry standards such as IEC, NEC, IEEE, ISO, ANSI, NFPA, and ASTM.
- Hands-on experience with electrical panel construction, wiring, and installation.
- Understanding of control networks including DeviceNet, ControlNet, Ethernet/IP, and DNP3 protocols.
- Basic understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems is a plus.
