Controls Engineer

We are looking for a Controls Engineer that will grow to become an expert in our control systems and equipment.

This role will be intimately involved in the design and programming of a variety of electrical/PLC/SCADA/robotic control systems.  This involvement will be through the whole software/systems life cycle, from design through coding, testing, installation, configuration, and documentation. 

Location: Gastonia, NC

Salary: $100,000 - $110,000

Your Challenge

  • Responsible for developing electrical, controls, and automation solutions for equipment built in CWST Engineering (Gastonia, NC)
  • As an integrator, this position will be heavily engaged in the mechanical design and so will need a high degree of competency with mechanical response, trouble-shooting, feedback, etc.
  • Providing technical support for that equipment as it is deployed in CWST facilities around the world.
  • Travel to various CWST sites globally for equipment installation as well as success in this position will require a strong understanding of the electrical and mechanical aspects of the machines to provide the appropriate designs in electrical hardware/machine automation.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar field. Experience with electrical systems and components (circuit breakers, relays, switches, transmitters, power supplies, etc.).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar or complimentary role
  • Demonstrated ability to apply sound engineering judgement to resolve technical challenges
  • Programming experience is desirable - including PLCs, Industrial Automation software, LabVIEW, C++, etc.
  • Electrical wiring layouts/schematics/diagrams using CAD tools (Solidworks Electrical desirable)
  • Communication protocols (Ethernet, Profibus, EtherCAT)
  • Experience in manufacturing processes is desirable

Preferred:

  • Experience with Siemens and Beckhoff platforms is desired

We are also interested in junior engineers with some of the above requirements. Please note the salary range would change for a junior engineer.
