Role Value Proposition:
The US Procurement Partnering team is part of the Global Procurement organization. This team combines industry-standard category management and sourcing functions, focusing on collaboration with business partners to develop category strategies, source new business requirements, and manage existing costs and contracts. The Procurement Partnering team is on an exciting transformation journey, aiming to expand spend coverage through renewed relationships, streamlined processes, and enhanced technologies.
The Opportunity:
  • The Consultant, Procurement Partnering, will be a member of our combined category management and sourcing function. As a part of this function, the Consultant will have responsibility for supporting Marketing, Human Resources, Operations, and/or US Business (USB).
  • Support will span all indirect categories with an emphasis on Business-Function Technology (Software/SaaS), Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Marketing (including Print & Promotional), and Human Resources (including Contingent Labor).
  • The Procurement Partner's primary goal is to collaborate with stakeholders to best enhance its procurement practices within the guidelines and policies of MetLife. This partnership will involve understanding the goals and objectives of your various Lines of Business (LOBs) to effectively manage existing costs and renewals, source new suppliers, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
  • The goal is to leverage the procurement partner's expertise and resources to achieve better purchasing outcomes and drive strategic value for the LOB and their business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Procurement - Support development and implementation of category management strategies that align with business objectives, ensuring optimal sourcing and channel management across multiple business units.
  • Spend & Category Management - Oversee and analyze a designated portion of the team's overall $500+ million in managed spend, proactively identifying opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and risk mitigation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement - Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring alignment between procurement activities and business needs. Collaborate closely with internal teams early and often to support their procurement requirements.
  • Market Analysis - Stay informed of industry trends and market dynamics to leverage best practices and innovative solutions relevant to primary categories. Apply market intelligence and benchmarking tools to accomplish the best possible outcomes on individual negotiations.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience in related fields).
  • 4+ years of experience in indirect procurement, with expertise in both category management and sourcing.
  • Experience of being a member of a globally distributed, large-scale procurement team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; adept at using Excel and leading data-driven decision-making and insights via business intelligence tools.
  • Proficient communication and negotiation skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Familiar with procurement software and tools; experience with procurement intake and orchestration tools (Zip), CLMs, and SAP Ariba helpful.

Preferred:
  • Master's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • Experience leading high spend and complex cross-functional RFx events.

The expected salary range for this position is $76,500 to $102,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
