What We're Looking For:

We’re looking for a bold, creative, and strategic Communications Director to amplify the M-Files story on a global stage. This role reports directly to our Chief Marketing Officer and role blends vision with execution -- crafting compelling narratives, elevating thought leadership, and inspiring both external audiences and our own team as we scale rapidly and lead the way in AI-native document management.

As Communications Director, you’ll be the steward of our global narrative, driving consistent and impactful messaging across media relations, thought leadership, and internal communications. You’ll help shape how the world sees M-Files, spotlighting our people, products, and innovation, while energizing our employees with clear, values-driven internal communications.

You’ll partner closely with Marketing, Branding, Product, and Executive leadership to align communications with business strategy. With a passion for doing more with less, you’ll bring creativity, agility, and a fresh perspective to the role.

What You'll Do:

  • Own and evolve M-Files’ global communications strategy, ensuring our AI narrative and brand story breakthrough in the market
  • Lead external communications (85%), including media relations, PR campaigns, and thought leadership content, with a focus on 70% North America, 15% UK, and 15% rest of world
  • Manage and direct external PR agencies to maximize coverage and impact
  • Identify thought leadership opportunities and prepare executives for high-visibility forums and public appearances
  • Manage communications to key external audiences, including customers, partners, media, analysts, and industry groups
  • Partner across Marketing, Branding, Product, HR, Analyst Relations, Events and other teams to ensure integration and message discipline
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging channels, and best practices to continuously innovate and evolve M-Files’ communications strategy
  • Drive internal strategic and executive communications (15%) that foster culture, alignment, and engagement across a global workforce
Requirements

What You Need to Succeed:

  • 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, PR, or related roles, ideally in technology, enterprise SaaS, or AI-driven businesses
  • Proven ability to craft compelling narratives that resonate with media, customers, and employees alike
  • Experience managing PR agencies and driving results in multiple regions
  • Skilled at both strategy and execution; comfortable shifting between big-picture planning and hands-on delivery
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with expertise in speechwriting, storytelling, and message development
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple initiatives at once
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills with the ability to advise and coach senior executives on communication strategies, executive presence, and personal branding
  • A growth mindset, curious, adaptable, and eager to experiment with new ideas
  • Experience leading communications around AI, innovation, or digital transformation a strong plus
