Cloud Solutions Architect (Infrastructure Assessments)

Location: US / Remote Prefer

Role Overview 

 

We are seeking a highly experienced Cloud Solutions Architect to lead enterprise-scale infrastructure and cloud assessments for complex customer environments. This role is ideal for a seasoned infrastructure consultant, or AWS/Azure Solutions Architect who thrives on solving difficult modernization challenges, preparing executive-level recommendations, and building repeatable assessment methodologies rather than pursuing sales quotas.

The successful candidate will bring deep credibility across cloud, virtualization, datacenter modernization, security, disaster recovery, and enterprise infrastructure. They will serve as the primary infrastructure lead across customer engagements, partnering closely with Application Solution Architects and subject matter experts to assess current-state environments, identify modernization opportunities, and develop strategic transformation roadmaps.

This is a customer-facing leadership role requiring strong technical depth, executive communication skills, mentorship capabilities, and a relentless focus on quality and outcomes.

 

Key Responsibilities  

 

Primary Accountability

Own the end-to-end infrastructure assessment lifecycle for enterprise customers across multi-cloud and multi-workload environments.

Lead discovery, analysis, findings development, and executive recommendations while partnering with Application Solution Architects on every engagement.

 

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Discovery & Assessment

  • Lead infrastructure discovery workshops and technical assessments for enterprise customers.
  • Analyze cloud environments including AWS, Azure, and hybrid cloud deployments.
  • Assess on-premises infrastructure including:
    • Nutanix
    • Solaris
    • Linux and Windows platforms
    • Mainframe environments
    • Enterprise network architectures
  • Collect, validate, and synthesize technical data from multiple infrastructure domains.

Cloud Readiness & Modernization

  • Evaluate application and workload migration readiness.
  • Identify migration candidates and recommend:
    • Lift-and-shift approaches
    • Re-platforming opportunities
    • Refactoring requirements
  • Assess consolidation and optimization opportunities across cloud and datacenter environments.
  • Develop infrastructure modernization recommendations aligned to business objectives.

Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity

  • Assess current disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
  • Identify resiliency gaps and operational risks.
  • Recommend cloud-native DR and recovery solutions.
  • Evaluate recovery objectives, failover capabilities, and continuity readiness.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Direct and coordinate infrastructure SMEs including:
    • Database specialists
    • Network architects
    • Linux administrators
    • Windows platform engineers
  • Ensure quality, consistency, and completeness of assessment inputs.
  • Synthesize findings across technology domains into cohesive recommendations.

Solution Development & Executive Reporting

  • Partner with Application Solution Architects through weekly assessment reviews and findings synthesis sessions.
  • Perform infrastructure dependency mapping and impact analysis.
  • Own infrastructure sections of Enterprise Assessment Reports (EARs).
  • Contribute to executive narratives, business cases, and transformation strategies.
  • Present findings and recommendations to client leadership team

 

Ideal Candidate Profile  

 

  • 13+ years of experience in infrastructure architecture, cloud architecture, virtualization, or enterprise consulting.
  • Proven experience leading enterprise-scale cloud and infrastructure assessments.
  • Experience assessing AWS/Azure cloud environments.
  • Strong knowledge of hybrid cloud architectures and migration strategies.
  • Experience evaluating security, compliance, and disaster recovery programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional technical teams.

 

Preferred Background

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Former Principal Infrastructure Consultant, or AWS/Azure Solutions Architect.
  • Experienced in consulting-led transformation engagements.
  • A recognized technical leader with strong customer credibility.
  • Motivated by solving customer challenges rather than sales quotas.
  • Experienced in leading enterprise cloud or infrastructure migrations and modernization projects.

Compensation & Benefits for Fulltime hiring.  

  

Trianz compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay ranges between USD $150,000 to $170,000. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
