The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking amotivated, self-starting Chief Engineer for our Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Patriot Advanced Capability (PAC-3) program in Huntsville, AL.
Boeing is seeking a Chief Engineer for the PAC-3 Seeker program. Boeing produces and sustains seekers for the U.S. Army's PAC-3 Missile system in Huntsville, Alabama, as a subcontractor to Lockheed Martin. The Ka band millimeter seeker is the product of decades of research and development - providing active guidance data for target acquisition, optimal aim point and terminal guidance to defeat threats. Boeing recently completed a 28,000-square-foot expansion of its facilities, as well as a 9,000-square-foot expansion of its Huntsville Electronics Center of Excellence, to increase production in support of growing air and missile defense needs.
A successful Chief Engineer will demonstrate knowledge and experience across a wide range of disciplines necessary to lead large multi-disciplinary engineering teams. They will work cross functionality across the program to resolve emerging technical issues, and develop strategies to improve production and engineering processes.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the Chief Engineer accountable for the program's technical integrity, safety, and performance
  • Lead design integration efforts and resolve complex technical, supplier, and requirements issues
  • Maintain control of the technical baseline and provide oversight of supplier technical activities
  • Identify, assess, and drive resolution of technical risks and issues
  • Develop innovative, high-impact solutions to challenging engineering problems
  • Work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams
  • Provide critical technical reviews and independent assessments of engineering work
  • Lead technical integration across systems, electrical, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines
  • Direct Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations and implement effective resolutions
  • Build and maintain strong technical relationships with customers, business units, and other functions.
  • Lead engineering efforts in proposal development and support business growth initiatives

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 5 or more years of experience in production or manufacturing environment
  • 5 or more years of experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 15+ years of combined education and relevant work experience (including advanced degrees, certifications, or technical training)
  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Engineering or related science/technology discipline
  • Proven experience managing large-scale technical production efforts using advanced program and engineering management techniques
  • Experience with engineering processes and tools in high-rate production environments
  • Background in radar systems and circuit card assembly/production processes
  • Experience with modernization initiatives such as Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Testability (DFT), and Design for Assembly (DFA)
  • Extensive experience leading large engineering projects and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and programmatic teams

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range:
Level 5: $164,900 - $223,100
Level 6: $197,200 - $266,800
