Individual contributor role within the Engagement Center of Excellence (Engagement COE), which works closely with the Engagement Team within the Membership area of the organization. This role is responsible for the delivery and execution of role-specific capabilities for the Engagement Team. As an Engagement COE team member, this individual is dedicated to understanding, equipping and empowering Thrivent’s grassroots Engagement Team, with excellence and consistency.
The Business Development Specialist – Engagement leverages data and analytics, end-user feedback, and general business acumen to identify opportunities for improvement and efficiency in the engagement support model, ultimately driving key business decisions that will enable Thrivent’s engagement support model to deliver community, member, and business impact in a way that is relevant to Thrivent’s clients, communities, and business partners. The Business Development Specialist – Engagement individual is responsible for partnering with role-specific individuals and their leadership (Managers of Engagement and Assistant Managers of Engagement) to execute engagement strategies at a local market (regional, divisional, and enterprise) level.
This role reports to the Director of the Engagement Center of Excellence.

         

          

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Improve Overall Engagement Leader and/or Engagement Specialist Role Effectiveness Through Data Insights and System Utilization

  • Continuously seeks ways to leverage technology to drive more effective and impactful engagement strategies and tactics and to help drive corporate CRM and event management strategies.
  • Leverages market data and analytics to influence success of engagement events, programs, and initiatives to continuously improve upon outcomes. Gathers field staff, client, and key stakeholder feedback to ensure alignment and to optimize effectiveness of Engagement Team work at the local market level. Continues to build engagement intelligence through external and internal data sources.
  • Knowledgeable on the most critical Engagement Team systems and processes (E-mail playground, Salesforce, Power BI, Sharepoint/other communication platforms [Eventbrite, Zoom, Teams]) in order to ideate/research, collaboratively develop, and communicate out on best practices for Engagement Team role execution.

Contribute To and Execute On Engagement Strategies

  • Uses engagement expertise/experience to contribute to larger engagement initiatives and projects. May be charged with leading cross-sub-teams and workstreams and providing work direction in support of larger engagement initiatives. Leverages experience to drive program development that aligns with key corporate strategies and initiatives.
  • Works closely, and collaboratively, with other Engagement Center of Excellence team members to deliver on an ecosystem of engagement support (data, processes, and tools), including conducting research and employment of additional methods to determine engagement best practices, resulting in thriving interactions with Distribution, Thrivent Member Networks (TMNs), COIs/Partner Organizations, and ultimately, clients and prospective clients.
  • Works in partnership with the Engagement Team, especially regional Engagement Leaders and Engagement Specialists, to drive membership goals of societal impact, delivering value (engaging clients), and growing sales. 

Liaison to Corporate Partners – Engagement Team, Distribution, Marketing, Brand, Compliance, General Counsel’s Office, other COEs, Thrivent Member Network (TMN) Support Team and other enterprise depts

  • Develop mutually dependent relationships with key internal/external stakeholders, especially field staff including Engagement Team Leadership, Engagement Leaders, and Engagement Specialists relating to execution on their local strategic engagement plans, activities and communication; to collaborate and contribute to strategic execution of client offerings that drive client engagement, aid in new client growth and influence societal impact.
  • Contributes to the development of consistent, best-in-class engagement strategies that support the organizational growth strategies; responsible for development of actionable tactics that align with Distribution strategies while promoting brand affinity, productivity, and new client growth.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:  

 Required:

  • 5 – 7 years business administration, sales, marketing/communications, or engagement-related experience.
  • College degree in business administration, marketing, communications, or related business field; masters a plus but not required.
  • Technology-savvy; proficient in all Microsoft Office applications. Ability to create compelling and concise materials to take complex concepts/information and translate to actionable insights. Aptitude for learning and utilizing additional systems knowledge and capabilities as needed.
  • Demonstrates strong project management, execution, communication, and collaboration skills. Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Applies a development mindset that uses creativity and problem-solving expertise to develop new, more effective and more efficient engagement approaches.

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $88,132.00 - $119,236.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
