The IP Security Operations Expert serves as the subject-matter authority within the MS organization for the IP Security domain. This role is focused on technical ownership, operational excellence, and expert-level support of the customer's IP backbone security infrastructure. Ensures stability, performance, and continuous improvement across complex, multi-vendor security environments, acting as a key reference point for engineers, stakeholders, and vendors.
What you will do:
- Own the end-to-end technical operation of the customer's IP backbone security domain, ensuring high availability, resilience, and optimal performance.
- Provide expert-level operational support for maintenance activities, software/hardware upgrades, and operational changes.
- Act as the primary technical escalation point for complex and major IP Security incidents, leading deep root-cause analysis and driving sustainable corrective actions.
- Support and mentor engineers by providing advanced troubleshooting guidance across multi-vendor security solutions (Firewalls, IPS, Authentication servers, Load Balancers, DDoS protection).
- Analyze and monitor traffic behavior through firewalls, define performance baselines, and lead investigations into anomalies or service degradations.
- Identify security threats, perform risk assessments, and develop mitigation strategies aligned with customer, MS, and industry security standards.
- Review, validate, and technically drive IP backbone security expansions, replacements, solution designs, and optimization activities.
- Coordinate and technically govern high-urgency cases and on-call escalations, ensuring fast, accurate decision-making and minimal service impact.
- Interface with third-party vendors (3PP) for escalations, defect resolution, and solution optimization.
- Contribute to operational maturity by defining best practices, technical guidelines, and knowledge-sharing materials.
- Produce clear technical documentation, reports, and stakeholder communications to support transparency and informed decision-making.
The skills you bring:
- 5-7+ years of relevant experience in Network / IP Security operations, with a strong focus on complex environments and advanced troubleshooting.
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, IT Engineering, or equivalent.
- Strong hands-on expertise in IP Security technologies and network security architectures.
- Proven experience with multi-vendor firewall and security platforms (e.g., Juniper SRX, F5, Fortinet, Palo Alto).
- Solid understanding of telecom-grade networks and service provider security challenges.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to operate effectively under pressure.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Very good command of the English language.
- Demonstrated ability to drive technical decisions, influence outcomes, and ensure alignment across operational, engineering, and vendor teams.
