The Team You Will Join
The Global Third-Party Management team is responsible for capturing and managing the aggregate risk that MetLife undertakes through its vendor and other third-party relationships. This work is critical for complying with multiple government regulations and for protecting MetLife's customers and brand reputation. The team is currently in the midst of a transformation that will modernize how third-party risk is measured, tracked, monitored, and mitigated for the enterprise. Completing this change program will require strong leadership to maintain operational stability while simultaneously selecting, designing, implementing, and migrating to the new solution.
The Opportunity
The AVP of Third-Party Management will fulfill a critical role in defining, communicating, and realizing the future state vision for third-party management at MetLife. In the earlier phases of the transformation program, the leader will help to collect external perspectives, engage with risk partners, global procurement teams, and other stakeholders, and communicate the plan to executives throughout the firm.
After the future state vision has been achieved, the AVP of Third-Party Management will continue to report on key metrics to risk committees, drive the continued evolution of third-party metrics and policies, and ensure that MetLife remains current on emerging regulatory requirements worldwide.
How You'll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)
  • Lead the team responsible for global third-party risk management policies, procedures, metrics, and change management
  • Support the creation and deployment of enterprise-wide standards and procedures across the third-party lifecycle, inclusive of third-party risk management. ongoing monitoring, and issue management.
  • Provide support and training on standards and procedures to enable lines of business / corporate functions to adhere regardless of their preferred vendor management model (centralized vendor management v. decentralized vendor management).
  • Manage relationships with risk partners to report and flag issues and drive continuous improvement of processes.
  • Develop strong partnerships with leadership to ensure risk management strategies are aligned with organizational goals

What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)
  • 12+ years of hands-on experience in leading third-party management across geographies working with senior leaders
  • Experience leading teams with governance oversight and coordination
  • Strategic thinking and risk mindset
  • Change agent with proven ability to drive execution
  • Interpersonal skills to build relationships and influence partners
  • Analytical and process skills with ability to analyze, interpret and utilize data to make decisions
  • Strong communication skills

What Can Give You an Edge (Additional Skills)
  • A working knowledge of government regulations that relate to vendors
  • 5+ years of experience at an insurance company or other financial services firm
  • Experience with defining and reporting key performance indicators and other metrics
  • Experience and knowledge of general risk and issue management frameworks

The expected salary range for this position is . This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
