The Database Reliability Engineer position is responsible for implementing and operating SQL Server platforms both on-prem and in Azure. This role involves implementing, managing, and optimizing existing SQL Server platforms globally in a 24/7 environment, as well as evaluating and onboarding new database platforms and tools across the organization. This is an exciting opportunity to continuously improve stability and increase self-service through automation, self-healing, and AIOps, providing a best-in-class experience for our application development partners. An ideal candidate should have experience with various database platforms, data engineering, automation, DevOps, and infrastructure/configuration as code, and be able to contribute in multiple ways.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement automation or infrastructure-as-code solutions for managing database infrastructure.
- Assist with the research, design, and operation of scalable and reliable data infrastructure solutions.
- Improve SQL Server database performance through tuning and optimization procedures.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and remediate database issues.
- Assists with security policies and oversees database configurations to meet data security standards.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or another related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- 3+ years of experience in automation and scripting of databases and knowledge of database internals.
- Strong scripting experience with PowerShell, T-SQL, Python, Ansible, and/or Automation experience using DevOps tools
- Experience utilizing various high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) options for SQL Server.
- An interest in performance tuning, along with a basic understanding of how to read execution plans.
Preferred:
- Experience in On-prem SQL Server, Azure IaaS & PaaS, including Azure SQL database and Azure Managed Instance.
- Good work attitude and strong willingness to learn and adapt to newer tools and technologies.
- Hands-on Automation and orchestration experience with the ability to bring additional knowledge and work experience in PowerShell, T-SQL, Ansible & Elastic to our team.
- Experience with one or more of the 3rd party products we use (Elastic, Rubrik, AppDynamics, IBM TWS Scheduler, IBM Guardium, ServiceNow)
