Job Overview:

  

LPL Financial is currently seeking an AVP, Cyber Defense within its Information Security organization. As part of the Information Security team, this role is responsible for leading the firm’s cyber defense team and associated initiatives. The ideal candidate must be able to lead teams in a fast-paced and technically challenging operational environment. This individual will provide strategic insight towards development and growth of the function, as well as drive tactical execution of daily operations. The role requires technical competence and experience managing and mentoring team members within cyber defense team.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development and maturation of the cyber defense team within Security Operations Center

  • Manage a team of analyst’s onsite, offsite contractors and MSSP to monitor and respond to security events 24x7 with on call rotation

  • Partner with security engineering and content development to develop and tune content, automate repetitive tasks and drive efficiencies to optimize resources

  • Manage career development for the team, including talent retention, training and mentoring, conducting performance reviews and exhibiting behaviors to be modeled by team members

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for SOC Analysts, MSSPs and vendors

  • Evaluate and update SOC policies and procedures as appropriate

  • Develop and maintain metrics to measure threats to the organization, as well as effectiveness and efficiency of SOC analysts to ensure adherence with business SLAs

  • Support Investigations as required

  • Liaise with partners across various business divisions and enterprise functions including Technology Risk, Compliance Legal & Risk and Privacy

  • Reviews and prioritizes security alerts, investigations and escalated matters; ensure all investigations are appropriately scoped and completed thoroughly

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information security or technology related field

  • 5+ years of related experience in information security, specifically hands on experience working in a 24x7 Security Operations Center

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with SIEM platform

  • 3+ years managing technical resources responsible for detection and response across various cyber security platforms

Core Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Experience in Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) threat intelligence platforms, security automation and orchestration solutions, intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), Endpoint Detection Solutions, DLP and other network and endpoint monitoring tools

Preferences:

  • Relevant technical and security certifications such as CISSP, GIAC certificates

Pay Range:

$120,188-$200,313/year
 
Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
