This position will design and develop the installation and main structures modifications associated with the connectivity system and will work closely with Electrical Engineering, PMO, Supply Chain and outside vendors to ensure they are installable on aircraft. Responsibilities:
- Aircraft Structure Design: Contribute to the evaluation and design of LRU equipment installations, including integration of large equipment into aircraft main structures, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.
- Material Selection: Collaborate with materials engineers to select and evaluate suitable materials, considering factors such as weight, performance, and environmental impact.
- Liaison Engineering: Provide technical support in a Liaison role to triage and help resolve installation, design, manufacturing, and maintenance issues. Manage and own issues from discovery to resolution, working closely with the airline operator, internal and external engineering, ODA and UMs. Investigate and analyze discrepancies, defects, and non-conforming parts.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, systems engineers, and manufacturing experts, to ensure seamless integration of structural solutions within the aircraft design.
- Testing and Validation: Evaluate and develop structural testing plans and procedures to validate designs, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5-8 years of experience in structural engineering within the IFEC/aviation or aerospace industry.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally (extensively and frequently)
- Ability to travel for extended periods with short notice
- Ability to work holidays, weekends, and all shifts based on airline schedules and available aircraft ground times
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with aviation structural design, analysis, and certification processes, including familiarity with industry standards (e.g., FAR Part 25, CS-25). Aviation regulations and standards (FAA, EASA, etc) and experience with aircraft design methodologies. Familiarity with industry-specific tools and technologies (DO-254, DO-160) is a plus. A working knowledge of the STC process is important.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
- Collaborate with field and engineering teams to develop corrective actions and solutions.
- Travel as needed to prototype installations, aircraft installations, customers, vendor sites, etc.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software and finite element analysis tools.
- Experience with CAD software for 3D modeling and design.
- Excellent communication and project management skills
