Your Role

The Center of Expertise (CoE) is a global team built to solve our customers' most complex technical challenges and turn what we learn into repeatable value for the rest of the business. As our AI & Automation Engineering Intern, you'll spend the summer building. You'll prototype AI-assisted tools, agents, and automations that help a small, fast-moving team scale its impact without scaling its headcount. This is a hands-on, build-focused role: what you create is meant to still be running after your internship ends.

  • Design, prototype, and test AI-driven tools, agents, and workflow automations that reduce manual effort across the team’s core processes
  • Partner with team leads to identify repetitive, high-volume work and convert it into automated or AI-assisted solutions
  • Build automation around internal feedback loops so information moves faster and more consistently between teams
  • Evaluate AI platforms, frameworks, and tooling, and make practical recommendations on where they add real value
  • Document and hand off what you build so the team can maintain, extend, and scale it after the program ends
  • Present your work, results, and recommendations to CoE leadership at the close of the internship

Requirements

  • Rising Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or a graduate student in an accredited college or university, preferably in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field
  • Excellent written, verbal and communication skills
  • Hands-on experience with at least one programming language preferred (Python preferred) through coursework, personal projects, or a prior internship
  • Familiarity with AI and large language model concepts, and demonstrated curiosity for applying them to real problems — coursework, personal projects, and hackathons all count
  • Comfort working with APIs, scripting, and connecting systems together
  • Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction in a fast-paced environment; must be a high-energy, motivated self-starter

  • Tech Stipend to help set up your workspace
  • 8 Hours of Paid Volunteer Time through our Veeam Cares Program
