Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Quality Assurance Specialist in our Quality Assurance and Risk Controls team.

As the Quality Assurance Specialist, you'll help strengthen compliance, improve business processes, and reduce risk across our Crop Insurance operations. You'll partner with teams throughout the organization to conduct reviews, identify opportunities for improvement, and support compliance with FCIC, RMA, state regulatory, and company requirements.

Location: This position may be based remotely in Texas, Kansas, North Dakota, or Illinois. Candidates located near our Lubbock, TX; Lenexa, KS; Topeka, KS; or Fargo, ND offices will be expected to work in a hybrid capacity. What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor quality assurance standards, metrics, and review criteria across multiple departments.
  • Conduct audits and compliance reviews to evaluate adherence to company policies, internal procedures, RMA requirements, and state regulatory standards.
  • Prepare clear, thorough work papers and documentation to support review findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Assess operational and regulatory risks, identify control gaps, and partner with business teams to develop practical risk mitigation strategies.
  • Stay current on regulatory and policy changes and evaluate their impact on company processes and procedures.
  • Communicate review results, risk insights, and quality expectations to management and key stakeholders.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships that support collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote a proactive risk management mindset and deliver high levels of service consistent with company values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you’ll bring:

  • 3+ years of experience in quality assurance, compliance, audit, risk management, or a related field.
  • Crop insurance industry knowledge preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of administrative functions and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Proven analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex issues and support sound business decisions.
  • A proactive, innovative mindset with the ability to challenge the status quo, leverage technology, work independently or collaboratively, and serve as a trusted business partner.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Agriculture, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.

Physical Requirements & Work Conditions

  • Sedentary work.  Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
  • Ability to stand or sit constantly/continuously.
  • Hearing.  Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.  Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
  • The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.

Environmental Conditions

  • The work environment described here are meant to be representative of those an employee would normally encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • The physical environment requires the employee to work inside where there are limited extremes to heat and/or cold; moderate noise; a normal office environment.
  • Travel required for meetings and trainings.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
