Account Executive — PHCP

Location: Remote, North America

Team: Growth

Reports to: Senior Director of Growth

Employment type: Full-time

Status: This posting is for an existing vacancy.

About Toolbx

Toolbx is the digital foundation for modern building supply teams. We provide a B2B commerce platform that transforms how independent distributors operate and engage with their customers. Seamlessly integrated with their ERP, our platform simplifies payments, streamlines AR, enhances sales, and improves customer service, all in one place.

We're trusted by top LBM 100 dealers and major buying groups across North America. Now we're taking that same platform into plumbing and PHCP distribution, where supply houses face the same pressures our lumber and hardware customers do: contractors who expect to order at 6am from a truck, counter staff buried in phone orders, and AR teams chasing paper. This role is how we get there.

The Role

Toolbx is looking for an Account Executive with a background in B2B sales, strong knowledge of the plumbing industry, and a track record of over-achievement to support us in opening up the plumbing and PHCP market. Focusing on finding new customers, you will be responsible for establishing Toolbx as a trusted business partner with target accounts: independent plumbing wholesalers, PVF and waterworks distributors, and the buying groups they belong to. You're a natural at selling, you already know how a supply house makes money, and you have the relationships to get in the door.

This is a build role, not a maintain role. You'll be one of the first people carrying our name into plumbing supply houses, which means you'll help shape the territory, the target list, and the pitch as you go. Because we're entering the vertical rather than defending it, we're looking for someone who's spent real time in plumbing — as a distributor, a manufacturer, a rep, or selling into them — and can shorten our learning curve rather than share it.

What You'll Do

  • Own new business in plumbing and PHCP. Build and work a pipeline of independent plumbing wholesalers, PVF, HVAC and waterworks distributors across Canada and the US.
  • Prospect with intent. Cold outreach, referrals, buying group introductions, and trade shows (ASA, CIPH, MCEE, AHR). You find your own way in rather than waiting for leads.
  • Run the full cycle. Discovery, demo, business case, pricing, negotiation, close. Multi-stakeholder deals with owners, GMs, IT, and counter/branch leadership.
  • Sell to the business, not the software. Frame Toolbx around what dealers actually care about: faster cash collection, fewer phone orders at the counter, more wallet share from their best contractors.
  • Get fluent in the plumbing ERP landscape. Epicor (Eclipse, Prophet 21), DDI, Infor, and the homegrown systems in between. You don't need to be technical, but you do need to speak credibly about how integration works.
  • Bring the market back to us. Feed what you hear in the field to product, marketing, and leadership so our plumbing playbook gets sharper every quarter.
  • Keep a clean house. Accurate forecasting and disciplined pipeline hygiene in HubSpot. We measure twice and cut once here.

What You'll Bring

  • Strong knowledge of the plumbing space. You've worked in or sold plumbing and PHCP — a wholesaler, supply house, manufacturer, rep firm, or a vendor serving them — and you understand how the channel works from manufacturer to wholesaler to contractor.
  • 3+ years of quota-carrying B2B sales experience with a documented record of beating quota.
  • Familiarity with the language of the trade: PVF, waterworks, will-call and counter sales, contractor pricing and job accounts, buying group rebates.
  • Comfort selling into owner-operated, relationship-driven businesses where the decision-maker's name is on the building.
  • Ability to run a consultative sales process from first call to signature without a lot of hand-holding.
  • Strong discovery instincts. You ask questions before you pitch.
  • Willingness to travel across North America for on-sites, branch visits, and trade shows (roughly 25%).
  • Self-direction. Remote-first, early-market, and comfortable with the ambiguity that comes with both.

Bonus Points

  • Existing relationships with plumbing buying groups or Premier 150 distributors.
  • Experience selling SaaS, ecommerce, payments, or ERP-adjacent software into distribution.
  • Hands-on time with Epicor Eclipse or Prophet 21, DDI, or Infor in a distribution setting.
  • Active in ASA, CIPH, or your regional wholesaler association.
  • Bilingual (English/French) for the Quebec market.

Compensation

  • Ontario: $80,000 – $100,000 CAD base salary, plus commission.
  • United States: base salary varies by location and experience. We'll share the range for your state early in the process.

Why Toolbx

  • A proven platform entering a new market. You're not selling vaporware. Our platform is battle-tested by top LBM 100 dealers.
  • A market that's ready. Plumbing distribution is where LBM was five years ago on digital. First-mover territory, with a product that already works.
  • Real ownership. You'll influence the target list, the messaging, and the playbook, not inherit someone else's.
  • A team that answers. Fast implementations and responsive support mean your customers stay customers.

Our values: Customer obsessed · Measure twice and cut once · Build foundations that last · Solution-driven thinking · Be curious and ask questions
