Your Responsibilities
As an Engineering Lead for John Deere in Moline, IL, you will:
- Contribute to creation of next generation operational monitoring platform;
- provide technical leadership to an Agile (scrum) team working on Java, Akka, Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies and Big Data concepts;
- participate in all aspects of team's work, including development, design, testing and analysis;
- perform hands-on code development and delivery to ensure coding standards, patterns and approaches are appropriate, consistent and of high quality;
- provide guidance to other team members on design solutions or coding practices within team;
- serve as expert within team on tools and technology in use;
- work with team members through pairing, coaching and reviews, and lead adoption of new technology for increased product reliability;
- plan, coordinate and perform product design, testing and/or analysis work for complete project of broad scope or for significant portion or sub-system of major and diverse project;
- operate in team environment and may act as lead person, providing technical leadership and design solutions;
- assign, coordinate and review portions of work to other engineers and support personnel;
- provide technical consultation and knowledge base and serve as recognized expert across product line; serve as expert user of critical technology;
- develop new technology applications for product development;
- analyze assignments and determine engineering specifications which must be fulfilled for complex problems or projects;
- produce and/or evaluate possible design solutions to improve cost, quality and performance based on specialized knowledge of Deere engineering applications;
- compile and furnish necessary information (engineering decisions and reports of pertinent design analyses data) to document design solution required for building prototypes and adopting designs;
- provide technical support to marketing, manufacturing, quality and supply management organizations;
- develop and/or execute tests or analysis plans for product verification and validation;
- lead resolution of product-line based difficult technical issues both within the company and with outside suppliers.
- 25% international and domestic travel required. Can live anywhere in the U.S. Up to 100% remote work allowed.
What Skills You Need
- 5 years of experience in develop applications using Java programming language
- 3 years of experience in develop applications using Akka, Hibernate, and Spring framework
- 2 years of experience in leverage AWS technologies for application development, with hands-on knowledge of Kinesis, Lambda, ECS/EC2, API Gateway, SNS, DynamoDB, SQS, IAM roles, VPC, and CloudWatch
- 2 years of experience in utilize UDP-based TPP protocol, TLS based Web socket protocol and Big data concepts
Education/Experience
- Master's degree in Computer Science or related field plus 6 years related experience.
