Stepful operates as a hybrid workplace with a headquarters (HQ) in New York City. We believe that in-person collaboration fosters innovation, strengthens culture, and accelerates decision-making. Most FTE HQ employees work in-office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, allowing for in-person team syncs, whiteboard sessions and strategic planning sessions.
Additionally, Stepful holds twice-monthly all-hands meetings: one focused on culture-building and one focused on business updates.
Stepful is a performance-based culture. We prioritize long-term retention and consistency. Recognition concentrates on sustained, repeatable performance over time. Early spikes, one-time wins, or unsustained contributions are not sufficient for promotion or outsized increases; we look for durable impact that holds - and grows - across performance review cycles. We reward demonstrated impact and expanding scope, not tenure.
Additionally, during monthly culture-building all-hands meetings: time is routinely dedicated for employees to shoutout their colleagues and recognize the wins and work they’ve committed over the past few weeks.
Lastly, as a Slack-first company, we use our #celebrate and #student-love channels to publicly recognize both colleagues and student success stories.
