Facilitates confidential, non-adversarial mediation for child custody and visitation disputes. Conducts orientations, guides parties toward cooperative parenting agreements, applies child development and family dynamics knowledge, drafts written agreements, manages cases, maintains neutrality, and communicates with courts and community stakeholders.

Assists the County Ranger with forestry services, landowner support, urban tree-care programs, forestry education, wildfire suppression planning, and emergency response to wildfires and natural disasters. The role requires ranger training, a valid North Carolina driver’s license, after-hours availability during fire danger and emergencies, and overnight travel. Duties typically occur Monday through Friday but may include evenings, holidays, and weekends.

Operates and navigates U.S. Coast Guard-inspected ferry vessels along scheduled routes. Supervises vessel crews, coordinates maintenance and repairs, conducts safety meetings and emergency drills, ensures compliance with maritime and Homeland Security regulations, performs inspections, and oversees loading and unloading of passengers, vehicles, and cargo. Works rotating shifts of seven days on and seven days off at Cherry Branch Ferry operations.
