Designs and analyzes mechanical systems and equipment for direct reduction plants and new technology initiatives. Responsibilities include conceptual design, technical calculations, equipment and vendor review, drawing checks, technical specifications, field inspections, design improvements, and coordination with consultants and clients. The role supports fabrication, purchasing, aftermarket, and project activities, with 10%–25% domestic and international travel to workshops, job sites, and field assignments.

Prepare and maintain P&IDs, PFDs, equipment/line/instrument lists and process system databases; develop Intelligent P&ID procedures, validate database integrity, lead design reviews, train users, and support CAD/P&ID tools integration.

Provide engineering and IP support for R&D and technology development in direct reduction steel processes. Apply chemical engineering fundamentals to analyze simulations, experiments, and operating data; assess feasibility and risks; use innovation methods to advance concepts; identify and document inventions; coordinate with legal and patent counsel; manage IP records and prosecution activities.
