Job Description:  

Vanguard has an exciting opportunity for a Workplace Financial Consultant who will engage and educate retirement plan participants. You will drive business growth and add client value by implementing an effective client outreach and book of business strategy. By using your advanced sales skills and retirement plan knowledge, you will conduct high-touch, targeted outreach. This role collaborates with peers cross-site to help drive individual and team results, experiment with new techniques, and participate in regular group coaching and skill building sessions. 
 

Responsibilities: 

  • Achieves sales and sales activity goals as set by leadership team. Identifies opportunities and moves clients through the sales funnel process. 

  • Drives results and raises awareness of Vanguard’s investment products and services by delivering key messages through virtual meetings, phone calls, targeted mailings and emails. 

  • Successfully manage and grow book of business consisting of participants through proactive client outreach strategies. 

  • Builds, grows, and maintains participant relationships by developing a thorough understanding of Vanguard's value-added offerings and successfully position these services to participants. 

  • Develops a thorough understanding of the sales process and utilizes it to assist in moving clients and opportunities to the next stage. 

  • Develops strategic mindset when prioritizing and tiering clients. Be able to segment a book of business to deliver timely, relevant and personalized value. 

  • Works well in a team environment with Financial Advisors, Relationship Managers, Participant Services and other team members 

  • Assesses the needs of each participant by asking targeted, high impact questions and positions the appropriate product and/or service that meet those needs.   

  • Leverages Workplace acumen to build trust with participants (e.g. plan rules, company stock, non-qualified plans (NQPs)) 

  • Proactively supports broader corporate initiatives and participates in programs as appropriate. 

  • Participates in special projects and other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. 

  • Minimum of three years related work experience. Three years of experience in the financial services industry preferred. 

  • This job requires a regulatory license and/or registration (e.g. FINRA, state, SFC): Series 7 and Series 66 (or combination of Series 63 and 65). 

  • Minimum of one year of Defined Contribution plan knowledge.  

  • Exceptional client relationship management experience and sales consultative skills 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 

  • Excellent problem-solving skills. 

  • Entrepreneurial and iterative mindset - comfortable with ambiguity and change 

  • Tenacity to work in an outbound sales environment 

  • Strong time management skills. 

  • Knowledge of MS Office products. 

  • Broad knowledge of Vanguard funds, products and services and markets preferred
