The Workers’ Compensation Paralegal will assist attorneys and claims personnel by providing clerical and research support services including document preparation and review; research, investigations, fact checking; and legal group litigation reporting. This is a fully remote position.

Job Responsibilities
  • Meets with attorneys and claims professionals to discuss assigned projects.
  • Drafts legal documents including pleadings, discovery responses, responses to subpoenas, legal correspondence.
  • Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to attorneys to assist with legal requests.
  • Assists attorneys with document production on subpoenas and litigation matters.
  • Develops and maintains reporting on litigated matters.
  • Maintains spreadsheet on approved Workers’ Compensation attorneys
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Slack, and related software.
Education and Experience:
  • Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or related field required; Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field preferred.
  • Paralegal certificate required.
  • Workers’ Compensation experience required.
  • Previous insurance industry related experience preferred.
