Workers' Compensation Claims - Senior OR Specialist II (Primarily NY)

What you will do
This role may be hired at a Claims Specialist II level or Senior Claims Specialist level, depending on experience and qualifications.
In this role, you'll use your customer service experience, investigative skills, and detail orientation to handle low to moderate complexity Lost Time claims (for the Claims Specialist II level) or more serious and complex Lost Time claims (for the Senior Specialist level) in primarily NY jurisdictions. Communicating with our insureds, attorneys, and other relevant parties will be required in this role. With technical claims knowledge, you'll also use your decision making skills to settle claims within your assigned authority.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate, evaluate and resolve primarily New York Workers' Compensation Lost Time claims with either low to moderate complexity (Claims Specialist II) OR claims with a higher complexity and more serious nature (Senior Claims Specialist).
- Handle less complex litigated files and maintain contact with attorneys concerning serious claim matters to direct defense counsel in the resolution of claim..
- Performing special claims investigation and handling matters requiring broad technical claims knowledge.
- Operate on a more independent basis with little supervision.
- Settle claims within assigned authority.
- Review court decisions; make legal and coverage interpretations.
- Maintain broad knowledge and understanding of the law and claim practices.
- Provide technical support for less experienced specialists as needed.
- May assume duties of the Claims Supervisor in the Supervisor's absence.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
What You Need
Claims Specialist II:
- Four year degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- 2-4 years of insurance claims experience preferred with workers' compensation experience.
Senior Claims Specialist:
- Four year degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- 3-4+ years insurance claims experience required with workers' compensation experience.
- Experience with New York jurisdictions strongly preferred.
Licensing
Required to obtain your license(s) as an adjuster in the state(s) in which you are assigned to adjust claims. Licensing must be obtained within the timeframe set forth by the Company and must be maintained as needed throughout your employment.
Claims Specialist II Salary Range: $57,943 - $72,000
Senior Claims Specialist Salary Range: $73,000 - $95,000
The final salary to be paid and position within the internal salary range is reflective of the employee’s work experience, their geographic location, education, certification(s), scope and responsibilities in the role, and additional qualifications.
