The BAE Systems site in York, Pennsylvania is seeking a Weld/Fabrication Quality Engineer/Tech - Principal in support of Combat Mission Systems' Paladin Program. This is a 1st shift lead position. In this role, the Quality Engineer develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols in a heavy manufacturing environment. The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring Fabrication requirements are met for current and future contract years.
- Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control system protocols for in-process, partially finished or finished hull structure and weldment product.
- Collaborates with various support organizations to investigate, document, communicate and resolve issues specific to various military vehicle fabrication processes.
- Knowledgeable in quality methodologies, utilizes quality tools to help drive continuous improvement.
- Leads and collaborates with 2nd and 3rd shift support personnel to ensure a cohesive team.
- Works closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Structures Engineering, Material Planning, Operations, Manufacturing Management, Configuration Management, among others.
- Coordinates with Bargaining Unit Quality Inspector Visual Inspection (QIVI), Technical Inspectors, Welders, and Manual Machine Operators (MMO).
- Supports business priorities including Safety, Quality, Schedule, Cost.
- This position will interact with Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) personnel on a regular basis.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Typically requires a Bachelors degree in an Engineering or other technical discipline with six (6) years of related experience, or the overall equivalent;
- Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) or similar certifications;
- Requires a solid understanding of Quality Assurance / Quality Control fundamentals and principles;
- Experience with Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) tools - A3, 8D, 3L5W, Ishikawa
- Experience with Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA)
- Experience operating within ISO 9001 processes;
- Strong background in problem solving techniques and analysis;
- Proficiency in standard and industry-related software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database applications;
- Highly organized with effective written and verbal communication skills;
- Project leadership skills and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- VT Level III;
- ASQ Quality Certifications;
- Experience working in a quality program in support of government contracts, preferably DoD;
- Formal training in root cause analysis;
- ORACLE MRP system knowledge;
- TIPQA experience;
- GD&T experience and familiarity with portable metrology technology;
- Weld fabrication and machining experience with ability to interpret fabrication drawings.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $105254 - $178931

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
